You guys see the new dual mic pres at an intro price of $799? That's a damn good price. Don't need any at the moment, but I can vouch for the 1073 at least. No - I did not get paid to say this. Just pointing out a good deal. YMMV on the wait time.

Interesting that the tube ones are the same price as the solid state.

The pricing is nice. My 1073 MPA just shipped. Still, it took nearly a year to get it. SMH. I'm looking forward to hearing it next to my my AMS Neve 1073 DPX.

That is an attractive price: pairs are always nice for stereo, overheads etc.!

They look amazing. If they had a HPF I'd have already reserved the 1073T, but I just gotta have that on my preamps these days.

Just received my Stam 1073 MPA+. So I had to try it out next to my AMS Neve 1073 DPX. This is (4) quick takes and the Neve had the EQ out. The first (2) are completely raw with no EQ or compression. The second were recorded through my Summit TLA100 and I added some reverb. I have this great blues song in my head for days now. So that's what I sang. I'm curious which you think is the Neve and which the Stam, A or B. I didn't do any tricks here. A is always A and B is always B. The are not perfectly level matched, but I tried my best to do that.

Is this the newest version of the MPA? How long ago did you order it?

I reached out to Josh about reviewing a few of them, we'll see if he's down. Thought it would be really fun to do a whole song and split stuff off to the tube versions of the API and Neve preamps, as well as his Firechild preamp.

Unfortunately they are different takes (they have a 2dB difference) and different entonation.
This said I have an AMS Neve and an old 1073 with Marinairs and I'm aware of the tonal differences.
I always try to replicate that darker tone on every unit with a bigger low end

Have you considered making something a Grace or Hardy pre ?

Doesn't Hardy still make preamps?

Yes, very expensive ! Never heard it, but the Radial version (990/Jensen) isn’t too bad. There’s the SCA as well for even less. Both 500 series.

Thx, sca isn’t 500, but it’s own series, so you need its chassis psu or you buy the one shot.

Seems like an unlikely use case to me. All I know is my buddy has their 500 series 312 in an API lunchbox and really likes them.

If you click on a 500 series on its site : you see this: “This is the 500 series module only! It will not work in any of the SCA chassis! There is an SCA only version of the N72 available as well in the Classic series section. The 500 Series kits require voltage measurement and calibration which can be easier with the use of a 500 series extender kit. We recommend this: www.diyrecordingequipment.com/products/500ext-500-series-extender-kit” Think sca could make this a bit clearer?
