Just dropped it on the drum buss of my new song, replacing pulsar 78 and ua distressor: 609 sounds better, more authoritative, punch, body and tightness.
I don’t have UA 609 anymore: always a fav on drums:from memory I’d say AS/klive: easily tops it.

I never loved the 33609 on drums as much because felt like the attack was just a little too fast…but this one has a slow attack mod! Believe the slow attack time on the og 609 is 6ms. Slowest on the 1176 is 10ms. |

Slowest on the 1176 is 10ms. I think the attack time on an og 33609 is even faster, and there was no option for a slower setting. At least on the vintage units I’ve used (incl two at my studio), it’s a fixed attack on the compressor side. and an 1176 is faster still, like under 1ms. but he numbers are ultimately kind of meaningless because 1ms on an 1176 sounds slower than 1ms on most vca designs, and the neve compressors live somewhere in between (at least to my ears) |

Wonder how the Arturia one stacks up. I picked it up some time during my great plug-in splurge of 23-24 but haven’t played with it much.

Cheers, Geoff I’ve got it…haven’t really tested, but I don’t thinking I like it as much as this one or the UAD or this one. It’s set up a little differently too. I’m not totally sure what I think about the Arturia stuff. It works - I’ve just never felt like it added anything to the tone. |
