Since the OP is a songwriter, I'll mention how much Logic has affected how I write. Not that other DAWs might not have similar features/functions, but...
Logic's Drummer is huge for me. Having a solid, great sounding groove from the start of a new tune makes everything feel/sound very "real" right away.
The very new "export to Voice Memo" feature is fab - an instant way to check my latest work as I do dishes etc. Meanwhile, I've been using Voice Memo on my iPhone, like a million of us, to record song scraps and demos. I'll Airdrop a new song or idea onto my Mac, stick it in Logic, use Smart Tempo/Quantize to nail the new thing to the grid. Then I'll use the Stem Separator to split my guitar or piano and vocal. I can copy/paste verses and choruses, using the guts of the Voice Memo demo, then as lyrics happen, I'll keep the scratch/stem'd guitar as a guide as I put down a new scratch vocal with real lyrics. These aren't secret tricks from the vault, obviously, but for me, putting together a chain of action like this lets me hear my songs sounding a bit sleeker earlier.
Others have mentioned how many great instruments and loops Logic comes with. All of these things make for a very musician/songwriter friendly DAW.

See quint’s thread about ua connect and pro tools not playing nice, as HAC now auto updates and deletes Aax plugs, no problems in logic.

Yeah, funny thing....I had about a half-hour before a co-write this past week and had been meaning to try a new (to me) microphone with an acoustic and figured "let me give Logic a shot and see what happens." Within 15 min, I had an acoustic riff over a drummer that sounded pretty good...from nothing. I don't think I"ve ever been able to do that in PT. While I think I will keep PT around to learn, Logic is probably going to be my goto for creation. That was really just too easy.

Since Apple decided to sort out some of the bugs probably not. I’ve switched to cubase after 20 years of pro tools. It’s not alien to use, does everything I need and I’ve not had any issues with it so that’s good enough for me..

Serious question actually. I know DAWs are a bit of an opinionated topic with it really boiling down to users needs. Faced with the prospect of licensing costs of PT over the next few years vs using Apple Logic Pro (which I already own) I am genuinely beginning to wonder if investing more time in learning PT is really worth it. When I had my Carbon (which I sold due to life circumstances) it wasn't even a question for me, I was just going to go that route because I thought it would be a good skill to have. Now without the Carbon, I wonder if I should really spend the time/pain/money with PT or just become really good with Logic Pro. I don't do commercial work for others, just working on skills for my own songwriting/demos and while I have an Avid MBox Pro now, it doesn't lock me into PT. I have enough licensing for PT Studio for another 2 years (give/take a month). I seriously doubt I will need Ultimate or HD at this point. Is it worth my time/effort and future costs to stick with PT or should I just focus on Logic. I tried Studio One but didn't care for it - not really interested in any other DAWs at this point. Its going to be Logic or PT. I just don't know what I don't know. Appreciate the input. Or what about Luna? If you know PT, Luna has many of the same keyboard shortcuts. I really do think HW delay comp is around the corner…and comping. But yeah…if you’re not dealing with getting PT stuff from clients, I’d just go with whatever floats your boat.

I mean, this is really the crux of the Apple software pricing scheme. Low prices for apps compels people to buy the hardware, which goes obsolete every few years and needs to be re-bought new, all while locking them into a bigger ecosystem of phones, watches, and whatever else new thingy they release. It's brilliant. Yeah I disagree with this too…I used my i7 Mac mini from about 2012 to 2022…and right now I don’t see any reason to upgrade from my Mac Studio.

I can’t imagine running a native system that long for professional use….bravo! what version of logic is installed on that machine?
