Never had a chance to demo anything like a 1057 or a 1058. I’ve always been curious with those inputs (especially on drums) due to the association with the Superunknown/Soundgarden album. How do these stack up to each other, and to more familiar offerings like the 1073 and 1084?
Now, with the recent news of the AML 1058 kit, I was wondering how the 57 and 58 differ. I’ve built some of the AML 1084s and I’m getting that DIY itch again.

I'm glad you posted here, I don't usually go to the DIY for him although I really should start cuz I have a kit to build from DIYRE (73P). I just posted over there because I purchased two of the pre-built 1058 pes and they'll be here in a few days. Sorry for the cross post link, it's for folks like myself who don't frequent the DIY form often. realgearonline.com/post/386300/thread

Thanks! I had seen the AML thread in the DIY section, but figured it was potentially more proper to start a thread for non-DIY comments and stuff here.
I will say poppaflavor, that the AML kits are very nice. I've done a few of their kits, and they always arrive to the east coast of the USA in like 24-48 hours. I don't know how they do it. In any case, the AML kits can be quite complicated if you are not soldering/assembling electronics everyday. They aren't impossible, and the directions are top notch. But if you hit a snag, you're largely on your own. The DIYRE kits are nice too, and especially considering they offer troubleshooting.
In any case, the Mods can delete this thread if needed since the DIY thread was expanded upon. Thanks!
