I bought S-Gear and have been playing around with it for a couple months. Wanted to post a sound clip because 1) I really like this software amp modeler and 2) most the demos I heard when I was trying to decide whether or not it was something I wanted were of guys playing leads in various styles. That's fine but I want to hear what these sound like in a rock riff-based tune. Something with strong rhythm rock guitars. I find that most amp modelers show their true colors (usually for the worse) when you get into chordal overdriven/fake tube saturation type sounds. Setup: Guitar Right - Les Paul Classic Guitar Left - G&L ASAT Tribute (Tele)
Lead - Les Paul Classic All guitars were tracked via henge method. Guitar--> Great River MP 500NV DI--> Warm Audio WA76--> RME Fireface UC. When printing: WA76--> Kush Electras. You won't find Henge method on Wikipedia (yet) and I'm still working on it but it's a nice chain for fake amp rock guitars and I'm proud to have plagiarized this method . Since there are so many country musicians on RGO I tried to incorporate some of that style in this clip. Well - this is about as close as I can get. Think Steve Earle's tour bus colliding with AC/DC's during the Copperhead Road tour. You can take the boy out of rock but…….. https%3A//soundcloud.com/treehil/stuck-bounce-master-11-8Anyone with feedback on the mix, guitar tone, etc. please don't hold back. I can take criticism. I apologize for the lame fake drums….

Nice playing odyssey76!! Fat tone. Tele and LP's, classic combo. What did you have the Electras do in the chain?

Sounds great!
I really like S-Gear. Version 2.4 added the Custom 57 so now there are 5 amps to work with.

Nice playing odyssey76!! Fat tone. Tele and LP's, classic combo. What did you have the Electras do in the chain? Thanks Henge! Electra on the Les Paul was used to scoop a little of the mids and add a little sheen with the high shelf. Not sure of the exact frequencies because the Electra's marking points for the frequencies are just guidelines. Just tune by ear. The Tele on the left was high passed (probably up to around 150Hz) and the high shelf was used again to add some air. All pretty subtle tweaks. Lots more adjusting and experimenting to do with these tones. I'm a long way from having anything refined and polished but it's a fun process for sure:)

I love the OD you get with this amp when your tweaking the volume and level knobs at the same time. Also, people talk a lot about how good the touch dynamics of these modellers are and that is certainly true. What really gets me though is that sticky pick attack when you start to dig in. Very indicative of tube amps and those subtleties (along with the tones) are what make these models terrific I think.

When I was looking for a Marshall amp 2 years ago, a friend of mine, who's a total amp freak and expert, turned me on to a vintage JMP, which I bought. He also strongly recommended S-Gear and I thought he was joking. Until I tried it....

Been swamped Johnkenn! Got a full time gig that dovetails nicely with being in the studio. Plus I'm producing a full cd for a band and trying to finish off my next cd. Gotta get back here more though, I miss you guys. Apologies for the hijack!;-)
