I read that earlier this year...just sad. Gatekeepers are the death of the music industry.

I've got some plywood 2'x4' boards I could set down...does that count? better than nothing, i'd lean those against the wall, get $9 from the wife, and go to lows and pick up a 1/4" piece of 8'x4' tempered hard baord, throw that on the floor shiny side up, and don't wear socks unless your a good ice skater 8)

that thing sounds very sweet man, really. i bet with a careful mic set up in a killer acoustic space, it'd be insane!(that is not taking anything away from what i hear now, i'm just thinking in terms of maxing the potential of that thing, it's killer man!) did you ever pickup that sheet of tempered hardboard? With that Gtar in your possession, you need to make a nice reflective/acoustically excitable area around you/it, you'll never leave the house again man 8) Please expound on this setup. Very interesting. Sounds as good as you said it did JK.

Very interesting. Sounds as good as you said it did JK. yes, if you have carpet this won't be subtle, put the sheet (or a couple) on the floor underneath your seat and in front of you. Also, a pair of gobos (same material) off to your sides, they will go a long way to reinforcing/exciting the natural resonances of the guitar "IF" you place them correctly (don't bring them up too high, parallel with the guitar is too high IMO, they will reflect directly back into the mic causing phase issues. You can get parallel, but you have to back them off at least far enough to maintain phase integrity), behind you can also open things up, don't put anything out front IME. Also, if you have low ceilings, absorb the ceiling directly above you and the mic (on the ceiling, not the back of the mic), this is huge to losing the "pinch", and getting height in the sound. All of this will reinforce and excite the resonances of any wood instrument as long as you find the sweet spots (, if you place them wrong, you'll cancel the good stuff, you have to move the side gobos about until the Gtar pops, you'll know it when it happens), this will take an already great guitar and make it much more dramatic, exaggerated and larger than life IME. Hope this helps, let us know how you make out with it? btw, also, no joke, be careful in socks!

Don't bring it out here to the west coast, if we get a Santa Ana it might split apart. The strings will end up 1/2" above the frets, which is when we turn them into slide guitars.

I've heard of guys having lots of hydration problems out West...is it that bad?

I'd trade dry air for this 80% water that passes for air here in the Ohio river basin. Air you can wear. Can't breathe in the summer.
I can hydrate the guitar, it would be worth it.

I've heard of guys having lots of hydration problems out West...is it that bad? ha! i think he's exaggerating a bit, i have a planet waves humidity thingy in my guitar case(where i keep it when i'm not noodling), and it stays good.

Do you have a pic of this setup? sorry but no, this is a good shot of a hard surface gobo, it's just below the mics and close enough to interact. Clearly they don't need the floor as it's wood, also the ceiling are high so no need for absorption.

I have the bronze Elixirs on my Ibanez, they're a good fit for that guitar as well.

How much wider is the fretboard on the Martin at the 12th?

All of my acoustics have Elixer Nanowebs. After trying everything out there they are my personal preference for feel, sound, and longevity. If something came along I liked better I'd switch since I am not emotionally tied to any one brand. They just work for me.
