I build my own, they are simple and easy to make. I have a set of classic designs, Fuzz Face, Meyer, Colorsound, Foxx, etc. My fave is my custom job built with a TL071 opamp (yes, I did find a good use for those) a J305 jfet and a 3 way switch selecting silicon, germanium and asysmetrical germanium diode strings. It has a sliding low pass filter, gain and output knobs.
I don't have a Tube Screamer nor a clone. A friend built a nice one with all sorts of options from BYOC or another tube screamer DIY site. I gave it to a friend, it's not my sound, too compressed, too dull, too "LA lite jazz" for me.

Anyone else? Looking to get modern sounding, high gain tones from my Bassman and/or Orange with a pedal.

Have you checked out any of the Wampler pedals?

I built a "Dr. Boogey". It's a pretty good clone of the mesa rectifier front end but in JFET form.

Have you checked out any of the Wampler pedals? The Wamplers look cool. I know a guy that uses the triple wreck pedal and likes it. I feel like this Empress does a modern sound a little better though, from clips online anyway. Just not sure if I want to spend $200+ on a pedal.

OT, but I believe Empress makes the best guitar compressor I've heard. Three ratios, attack and release, blend control, great metering, plays nice with others. Very studo sounding, unlike stomp compressors in general.
For gain, I like to to cascade gain pedals rather than get it all from one.

www.emmaelectronic.com/The Pisdiyauwot is extremely heavy and the Reezafratzitz can be, I use a Reezafratzitz with a modded Bassman (using KT88's). Just a tube mod to the Bassman? I'm using a 66 Bassman and Orange AD30.

I put in a better biasing circuit, added midrange controls and play it through a closed cabinet w/Vintage 30's. It slays most other amps. Your own design or is there info on the web somewhere?

...Single Rec shipping my way. It's hard to beat a mesa rectifier for high gain.

...Single Rec shipping my way. It's hard to beat a mesa rectifier for high gain. I think it'll be sufficient. I sold my H&K this week and got the single for less than I sold the H&K for, so I think it's a pretty good move. Got my bases covered now for those rare times that I actually play guitar. haha.

You still have me wondering about that bugera 6262 though..
