seriously, wtf is wrong with this douchebag? Beck makes him look talentless, as a matter of fact so does everyone at this forum... www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/kanye-west-slams-grammys-says-beck-shouldve-given-award-to-beyonce-201592to be clear in case anyone misunderstands me, I love Stevie Wonder, Earth wind and fire, sly, parliament, MJ, Aretha, whitney, marvin and a ton of other black musicians, thats not what this is about, this guy has 0! Unless of course you consider saying "yeah" "oh" slathered in auto tune....talent. Hey Kanye, do like fishstix?

+ 1 I heard him say, one time, that he was a musical genius. Who buys his records. I couldn't name one of his songs if you offered me a million dollars.
I just heard on the "Insider" T.V. show of Kanya West when asked, "When you work with someone like Paul McCartney who takes the lead. Kanya's reply, " Oh, I do it all."

Yeah, I getcha.
But, I'm an old white dude who likes, uh, melody maybe? And I also tend to like electric guitars - loud.
So, maybe I'm not exactly the target audience. I am willing to admit that maybe I just don't get it.
OTOH, I liked and appreciated the earlier, more political stuff. Public Enemy I understood. It spoke of, and to, the black underclass in America. In a way it was an updated, mutated form of blues with turntables taking over from guitars. It wasn't all about boasting (you know the subjects - it's pretty similar to the bro country stuff in it's limited subject matter, but bro country seems more into beer (and maybe whiskey) whereas hiphop seems to be all about the blunts and blow (and a few years back sizzup). Not sure how much hiphop features painted on jeans or pickups down by the lake/ river/ stream/ estuary.
All that said, the production on some of this stuff is spectacular. Different (at least from a rock guy's perspective) and pretty innovative, while I find the music, as a generalization, to pretty uninspiring. Maybe it's just a low valley at the moment, maybe I don't really know what I'm talking about.
But yeah, Kanye seems like a complete asshat.
Cheers, Geoff

So I might be creating enemies here, but I'm a fan of his music. He's a total moron and him hating on Beck (and Swift for that matter) is total garbage, but he's got some good songs. This is an Estelle song, but Kanye is pretty prominent in it. On a side note, did you guys listen to the Beck and Bey albums this year? I thought the Beck album was good, not great, but steady. The Beyonce album had higher high and lower lows in my opinion. ...feel free to go back to hating on Kanye now.

We live in an increasingly graceless age.

I think Kanye realized he had the worst performance of the night, and decided to do something controversial so the conversation today was about his diss rather than his terrible singing.
And I really don't mind most of Kanye's music.
Big Beck fan though, and the album is really good. Glad he got some recognition.

Not a big Beck fan here, unless you talk about Jeff Beck, but Kanye is a royal pain. It's a shame that he makes so much money with his crap and real musicians and songwriters starve. Pisses me off. Royally.

I don't care for Becks or Kanyes music. None the less, Kanye is a kid with no self control, no grace, not a shred of humility and no respect for the adults in the room.
On the other side, yeah, Beck took the high road but bent way over to kiss his butt. That was disgusting as well.

Kanye is all about Kanye the brand. He is all seeing and gets to define what is and isn't art well under his brand. He keeps proving time and time again he is the bigger ass in his own house.

I think it was Michael Jackson who replied when asked about all the controversy about the alleged molestation stuff.. "it's better to be thought of badly than to not be thought of at all"..
Or someone else said that "all press is good press".
Seems like Kanye follows this thought process too.

I heard all this controversy was to cover up the Bruce Jenner accident.

Saw Kanye on SNL 40th. I use to recite poetry in grade school, only there wasn't auto tune then. Had I only known I could of made a career out of it.

I think this is only about one thing his arrogance, its not about race, ethnicity, music; the guy has zero respect for other artists and that's the irony.
