Last night I was out for a coffee, browsed the local record store and walked into one of the small mom and pop stores in town. You won't see your Fenders and Gibsons here. They do carry some good stuff. They happened to have the Vox Night Train set and I wanted to try it, the guy said that if I was a Tele player to try the Schecter. This one www.schecterguitars.com/International/Products/Guitar/PT-Fastback.aspxIT KICKS THE SHIT OUT OF ANY FENDER I'VE PLAYED IN MY LIFE (save for maybe the Baja that I didn't buy cause it was a Mexican). Solid thick neck, played like a dream and sounded incredible through the Night Train. I just bought my Tele in June so it's going back and I'm getting this one. There's no comparison between the two, I hate to say it. It was my dream growing up to own an American Fender Telecaster and I've now owned two that either gave me constant problems or played horribly. The Tele was $1200 and the Schecter is $650 Does anyone else here have these same kind of hangups about anything that's not Fender or Gibson? I'm going to keep my Les Paul Studio I think but who knows if there isn't something much better for much cheaper. My buddy who's an avid Fender/Gibson guy is currently trying to convince me not to do it but I think he knows this guitar is better.

I've got a Schecter. Don't know the model. It's got a push/pull to switch between single and humbucker. Sounds like a LP on humbucker. Very smooth. Really well built. It does a lot of different sounds. Whereas my tele always kinda sounds like a tele no matter what.

I shudder to think of letting go of the Tele trademark spank for a humbucking shredder. Don't do it

The tele plays like shit though. It's not usable, it doesn't stay in tune for a whole take, poor intonation, the output jack failed in the first two months. This is my second Tele, the first one played better and stayed in tune but the output jack made it a completely unreliable instrument.
As much as I love Teles and their sound if it's not reliable instrument what's the point? Especially if for $650 you can get a great instrument that feels great and sounds like a tele.

Put some new hardware on the Tele and hot rod it! Can't go wrong with the Schecter though! My main bass is an older Schecter C4 with EMG's. It stands up to USA P Basses, USA Jacksons, and Steinbergers I've owned. I also have a Damien Elite guitar with a Floyd Rose and EMG's, it kills! It compares with the $1500 Ibanez, ESP, Dean and Jacksons easily. The Schecters out there for $500 and up are very nice instruments, most of the newer metal bands are going with them, Schecter or PRS.

I got my Schecter bass a little over 7 years ago and I still haven't had to adjust the action. The way it came is the way I like it!

I've got a Schecter C-1 Blackjack that I love. It plays much better than any other electric I've tried.

Jordan, unless you have sentimental attachments, i say go for it man! I'm not a guitar expert by any stretch? but it took me years to be where i am now, i'm partially satisfied, but still not completely. I have a 1993 taylor 710, 1972 fender jazz bass, both of these are NAILS IMO, total "go to's", and i never think twice about replacing them, i've had dozens of guitars go in and out my door, i have a les paul, and tele that are both meh.. If i found something with more mojo, i would exchange either in a hot minute, but i couldn't live without either tone. That being said, i have my bro who's got a 1955 les paul that is the end all, so that pretty much takes care of anything important when it comes to that vibe for me. Of course, I also dig Schecter stuff, dan electro, silver tone..etc.
good luck

I am now guitar less, I wound up not getting it, the price listed in the store comes out to over $800 and it's at $650 everywhere else online.. I also oddly got denied credit at this place (unlimited charge account over at Long and Mcquade).
So now I'm really fucked and have no idea what to purchase. One thing for sure, it's not going to be some overpriced Gibson or Fender. I've seen enough of those.

Go for a Schecter of lesser value, does it have to be a Tele clone?

It sold already and I haven't had the time to look for a new one cause of work. Maybe soon though.

PULLED THE TRIGGER ON THIS TODAY! http://instagram.com/p/fAmAZzhiaB (the one in the middle) American built Fender's by a complete Fender Snob. I did a ton of research regarding Warmoth builds and didn't feel up to the task, the Shecter was nice as well but overpriced for a guitar built overseas. Mahogany body, one piece rosewood neck and a Bareknuckle Country Boy pickup in it. I'm going to get it in a week or two and I'm very excited to have a guitar again, hopefully my Kemper is out of the shop in time. $1500 shipped with case. www.nyguitars.co
