Now that Marshall has announced a re-issue of the Silver Jubilee, I'm very tempted to buy one. I missed the first issue back in 87 and the second-hand units go for ridiculous prices. What do you guitar-slingers think of the re-issue? I have a 2007 DSL50 and a 1979 JMP 2203, what can a 2555X add to my palette? Love the sounds in the demo video and, of course, the looks of the beast. Thoughts?

I believe it has diode clipping in the preamp, which some players consider a "modern" approach to preamp distortion. IMHO tilts the amp's sound toward heavy metal. Definitely a try-before-you-buy situation.

Thanks Matt. I'm not a metal guy, but sometimes I need a more agressive tone than the JMP or even the DSL50 can give me. Funny enough, the JCM 800 always sounded a bit too harsh for me - and the SJ is after all developed from the JCM 800 - but I like the way Bonamassa and Slash made it sound. To be honest, I don't care much for its lead channel, but the clean channel plus the overdrive sound great to me. Not sure I can get that with my amps.
Any more thoughts/experiences?
