A couple of weeks back I bought a 2014 Les Paul Traditional, new.
Its the last of the guitars Gibson made, before they lost their mind, and routed, and put robot this, three knobs that, switch here... all that stuff that us guitarists don't want.
The guitar is really heavy. No routing.
It doesn't have electronic tuning, its a guitar. 8)
Neck is fat.
The only thing it has thats a bit different, is at the 12th fret , it has an inlay that says 120th Anniversary.
It's really beautiful.
Its Flamed Iced Tea.
Here is the first time I used it live, which was the sat night just gone.
The band had never played this tune before....
The video should start at 2m 37 secs.. which will give you enough context for the song, then I play a solo.
A photographer walked in whilst I was playing (the venue hires her) so I doubled the length of the solo...and cause it was a les paul, as I was playing I thought of Billy Gibbons, so the second part of the solo gives him a nod... 8)
cheers

Cool take on 'Breeze'... like 90s country band meets ZZ Top.

Good stuff. There's so many kinds and levels of quality under the Les Paul name that it boggles the mind. Glad you got the sound you want!

I had a 2009 studio, and I just never got on with it... the neck shape was horrible... it was light as a feather, compared to the new one. Guitars are like chicks... just cause one will let you play with it, don't mean you want to be married to it! 8) cheers Wiz

Congrats on finding a new life partner.

I saw an ocean blue quilted top LP over on sweetwater last year and i *****ALMOST***** dropped the bread on it. i barely play guitar tho. I have a Fender 57 reissue from 2009 (birthday present to myself back then) and a Deluxe Hot Rod III amp. I turn them on maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

Nice guitar, Wiz. Sounds fine. I'm enjoying the Black Snow clips. Is that the camera mic?

Nice guitar, Wiz. Sounds fine. I'm enjoying the Black Snow clips. Is that the camera mic? thanks donrThe audio is a mixture of two mics.. there are two cameras. The video you see is from the Canon hfs20. There is a zoom Q3HD side of stage, that is also recording audio and video. I import the footage from both cameras into final cut pro X (FCPX) and make whats called a "multicam" clip out of them it automatically (magically it seems) syncs the audio. Usually a blend of both cameras gives the best result, though sometimes a single cameras audio will be best. I muck with the video color etc a little. Then in that song (call me the breeze) there is EQ , Compression, and Limiting on the audio on that one, I was messing around a bit. In the video below (3 Shots of Bundaberg Rum) the footage and sound came from the Zoom Q3HD on its own. I did some video editing to bring out the Bundaberg Rum Sign and the Polar bear, and if you look closely at my t shirt as I walk infront of those signs you can notice it 8) In this case, the zoom q3hd is on a mic stand, sitting to side of stage behind the front of house... still records pretty well. given that you can buy a zoom for a couple hundred, and FCPX for a couple of hundred, everyone should have one of these running side of stage I tape a lot of gigs, and review how the band, and how I am doing.... never once watched myself and said "gee I should have played more notes in that solo " LOL cheers Wiz

Looks like a Fender in the video clip above, but not sure which model. Do you use a different amp for different guitars? Cheers. Frank

Beautiful guitar Wiz, congratulations! Would you believe I sold this to my friend Walter Lure? It was originally a 68' Deluxe, with single coil humbuckers. I got it with DiMarzios. In 1976, it had neck issues. My singer's brother owned the largest Gibson dealership in Connecticut at the time. he sent it in 3 X for me, finally, on the last trip to the factory, they just put a new neck on, but get this, it was a 1959 neck!! They must have just grabbed something left on a wall somewhere. At the time, I wasn't happy with the guitar, I should have just changed pickups, not guitars, ha! That's my friend Walter there, playing it, next to my friend Johnny Thunders. Attachments:
