Which ones do you guys feel come closest to a real Fender tank? I've got a few amps with no reverb so I'm in the market.

A spring reverb pedal? Might be good for kicking in the into to "Wipeout"?

Well that was no help. Anyone care to comment on the actual question? Thanks.

Maybe something from Electro-Harmonix or Strymon in stereo with MIDI control.

It seems like one of those guys has an actual spring in one of their units. I saw that somewhere or I was dreaming.

Correct, the Sole-Mate has a 3 spring reverb tank and the Sole-Mate Jr. has a remote tank that you can put underneath your pedalboard, etc...

You can probably get one of these 2nd hand on ebay for half nothing. It's a pretty dirty, cheap sounding spring. But sometimes that's what you want!

Nothing beats a Z-Verb, but barring that, The old Digitech reverb pedal does a really decent spring simulation.

The Danelectro is actually a digital reverb, with the shortest spring you've ever seen for kickin' purposes only...

I'm demoing the EH Holy Grail right now. Meh...I'm thinking the problem with these things is partly due to the signal being on the front end. I mean it adds something kind of nice but doesn't at all sound real of coarse.
Anybody tried the Wampler Faux Spring?

The Strymon Big Sky. It was the one with MIDI in/out and Exp Pedal - Stereo. The demos I heard from YouTube had an algorithm that sounded pretty close to the fender tank on my Vibrosonic: www.strymon.net/bigsky/

The old Yamaha Rev 7 has a decent spring reverb algo. I used to drag one around with my guitar amp, I used it in the effects loop. Great for that surf music. No crash if you kick it though.

www.benadoeffects.com/adverb/When you come down for Namm, I will arrange a meeting with Sage Benado and you, here at my place, so you can hear his stuff. It's all I use live and mostly what I use in studio these days, cowboycoalminer. R

I had a guy bring the '63 Tube Reverb into the studio and hook it up to his amp/cab. Sounded good. Not inexpensive though.

Little Walter Tube Amps are now making a tube spring reverb old school analog style. They are leaving one with me next week. It will be kept here for people to try, so maybe while folks are in town for Wiz's get together, those that want to can hear it.

In the players defense, that room they were in is a rehearsal room and over treated to the point it is terribly dead. So to hear verb in there, you have to over use it.

I just replaced the stock reverb tank in my vox amp with one of these. They sound great.

Yeah I like it a lot JK. Sounds great. Close as I've Hearn to a real tank I think. Even better than that Holy Grail pedal I tried. Very tweak able too.
