Hi RGOs.
From time to time I create FX presets for guitar sounds in the studio. For a tune I write I want a P.Metheny alike Archtop sound. To my surprise he uses Digitec Amp Sim stuff and Lexicon Delays...
I got everything so far with right. The delays and the verb sounds a lot like his rig.
But one thing is hard to get. He used that old Roland (GR???) thing for getting that flute alike sound.
First of all I don't have one of these, second they don't build the unit anymore.
Any hint is welcome? How can I mix under the very nice guitar tone a flute alike tone that follows. It needs to be something that generates a different sound by the played guitar notes.

If it's just for studio use, maybe something like this can fit the need without much effort? www.bituosity.com/Didn't test it yet, hope it's better than JamOrigin, which not really convinced me... If you look out for a bit more hardware, i have one of the early Sonuus guitar to midi converters. I guess their later models were improved quite a bit. It wasn't too bad actually! Unfortunately, this stuff is not polyphone, like the Roland midi pickups... I don't know if the Melodyne does a good midi conversion on guitar - never tried that, maybe i should...

It would have been to nice to be true. The plug in fails validating in Logic every time.
I did try with some filters and delay but its not the same.

Can you do pitch to midi conversion? That plus some sort of triangle wave flute patch would work.
I once saw a bizarre video of an Irish band, one of them had one of those Roland guitar synths and the music was basically prog rock. They were playing in a prison, and about half of them left in the first 10 minutes. Imagine going home knowing someone preferred a prison cell to your music!

Yes, the Sonuus G2M is really usable. I have this one too, but use it rarely, on bass it has problems to track, but that was pretty forseeable. I bought mine before the B2M came out. But on guitar it really is fun and with a bit of trying, it works quite good. Tracking can be improved by splitting the guitar signal and feeding the G2M thru an eq/filter, setting should reduce the signal as much as possible to the base frequencies (treble down). This way you have one full-range guitar tone and one for good midi tracking.

The unit has a parallel Fuzz and 2 octave down effect - but what's really fun is that the octave down is super glitchy and high frequencies tend to make it gargle. Putting a wah in front of one sends it haywire - lots of fun!

WTF they do not sell it in Germany anymore.... grrrrrrrrrr Yes, just saw it. For a moment i thought the B2M wasn't available anymore, too, because the big T did not have them. But the G2M seems to have vanished in germany. There is a USB universal midi tracking tool I2M from Sonuus, but i have no clue if it is worth trying. Has anybody had the chance to use one of these?

The G2M would be perfect because you can use the guitar signal as well with your gear....
