Well, a different car. I needed something bigger, with better mileage. I traded in the mercedes and got a mazda 6. Honestly it feels like a better car all around. It's just not as smooth riding as the mercedes, but it's a ton better handling. The Vintage Mazda 6s are SO much better. Which vintage? A friend has one in the late 2000's and it's nice, but it's nowhere near as refined as the newer ones, more plastic-y and barebones than the latest body style. The new ones feel like luxury cars.

I was being funny. You know, like
"This new Telefunken 251 sounds great..."
"Oh, you should hear the vintage ones...so much better..."

Guy here in Nashville was selling it...Started at $1850...which was already smoking, but I could manage to stay away...then he kept dropping...couldn't stand it anymore. I've met him before, so I knew it wasn't a scam.

I love the "backwards" bridge. Gibson guitars are so pretty.

While it doesn't sound as full-bodied, as polished or honestly "as good" as the D-28 A...man, there's something about that thunky, no-sustain Gibson acoustic sound. It inspires me to write differently. It's that singer-songwriter sound for sure. Now I've got to figure out a way to keep both...and then sit and fret for the next year thinking, "do I really need both of these guitars?"

Just picked up a Chameleon Labs 7720. Been in the back of my mind to try one for a good while, especially after some sessions at one of the bigger studios here where the engineer uses several 7720's in lieu of the actual SSL comp sitting in his E series SSL console.
I really like it. In plugin form, I pretty much always gravitate towards SSL style comps, my favorite being Cytomic's "The Glue". This behaves a lot like that, but it sounds noticeably wider, deeper and more real in general (after RMS matching of course). 90% sure it's a keeper for me after only about fifteen minutes playing with it.

Attachment DeletedI've got one of these coming. They are $50 at Musician's Friend right now if anyone is interested in sounding like Yngvie Malmsteen. I got mine for $43 in fact "open box." Couldn't resist!

Been needing a decent guitar amp for quite a while now. My favorites are the Louis Electric Colombia (Princetone), the Bad Cat Cub III R. Both cost more than $2,000.
This little guy is the 5 watt, point to point hand made in the USA, spring reverb, Bad Cat Bobcat 5. It should do nicely for tracking in my apartment. I'm not sure if there's enough headroom to stand up to a drummer live, but we'll see.

I bought a floor tom...needed it to complete a set. But I'm done with buying drums for awhile. I did sell several, made decent profit on all of them. Going to be listing a 60's Slingerland kit soon. Everyone's got to collect something, I think my thing is sparkle drums. But, it's time to get back to buying pro audio gear.

I was just complaining to someone how expensive it is to play and record multiple instruments... Yargh! I think I'm going to buy my first Marshall amp soon.

Monkeyxx, of course it depends on what your needs are and your budget, but the best "Marshall" you can buy now is a Blankenship. Roy Blankenship is an amp genius, semi-retired. The touch sensitivity of his Leeds 21 is unparalleled. I once had a Marshall 100 that came from the Allman Bros. when they did the classic Live at the Fillmore album. It was the best amp I've ever owned. Today, unless you play big festivals, 100 watts is overkill, and if you play it on too low a volume, you won't get the creamy chunk chunka or sustain.
