My Ibanez SDGR bass I've had since I think 1995 , is giving me a problem . Its an active bass and even with a new battery , the volume level is EXTREMELY LOW . Any ideas on what the problem could be ?? Can the electronics in the bass go bad ??

I own mostly active basses and have never had that problem, did you check all the interior connections?

First thing to check would be the 1/4 connector and make sure it's not worn out, corroded or the wires have come loose. Active instruments have an extra wire coming from the connector that turns the electronics on/off when the cable is plugged in so you don't drain the battery. I'd make sure that is working. On my Curbow, if I haven't played in a while, sometimes it takes a few plug/unplug cycles to get it to work.

No , I decided to take it to an authorized Ibanez repair place by my house . Its a rat nest inside where the electronics are .

I'm considering a SR800 by Ibanez, hear any reviews?

I'm considering a SR800 by Ibanez, hear any reviews? No I haven't . I've had my bass since the mid 90's and its the only Ibanez bass I'm familiar with . I got it back from the shop . Turns out it had a dirty volume pot . He cleaned all the pots and the rest of the bass for $25 and it sounds great . There was no typical sign of a dirty pot , crackling/popping , when I adjusted the volume and it never cut in and out , like from loud to soft . Just one day I plugged it in and the volume was like 25% of what it should be . He said if the preamp was going bad you'd get loud volume spikes but not softer volume .
