I had a rough month several months ago. In one month I blew the digital section of my line 6 head (pretty much impossible to repair) fried my pedal and toasted my pc (dont ask). Lost a client from the wait time being too long while my hold on to two others who were becoming tentative themselves (weve started and things are alright). It took longer than I thought it would and in the process I lost several sessions (mine and others) and some invaluable files (believe it or not i saved too many back ups) but eventually it came together albeit with a few emotional scars and over a grand used in the process (Id been saving for a Royer 121). Long story short I decided to look again at my acoustic rig and see what pedals/rack effects others are using live. I used to run the acoustic through my pedals split from either a preamp or DI to a half stack (now a Hughes & Kettner) head (for monitoring and added texture) while the other line goes to the house/interface. Presently I use the send and return on the krueger for my outboard effects (eq, exciter, verb) during practice and small shows but im gonna need to send the effected line to the house soon for future upcoming shows. I want a boss ad-8 but I also have been eyeing a TC Electronics G-major (g-natural is out of my price range right now) What are you guys using for acoustic?

I'm using an A-Designs Ventura into one channel of a Hafler TA-1600 driving a center speaker out of a fairly high end (Totem Acoustics) 5.1 stereo system. No FX at present. Don't really need 'em.
Guitar is a '59 J-200 with an LR Baggs Anthem SL pickup system. I don't use the pickup to record anything but scratch tracks, but it sounds great live.

I use B-band here, it's a capacitor/condenser pickup, not a piezo. It has a very natural tone compared to any piezo design. It was a bit slow and hissy stock. An Analog Devices CMOS opamp cleaned that right up. It feeds the house and monitors through a DI.

Nice guitar. I kind of need effects in my set up though. Into a Ventura; that's nice.

Nice guitar. I kind of need effects in my set up though. Into a Ventura; that's nice. If I was running FX I'd have the choice of running them through the Ventura or between the Ventura and the Hafler. Countryman Type 85 to split the signal to the PA if the latter.

Jim, have you compared the B-Band to the Anthem? The Anthem uses an under saddle piezo for the low frequencies only (so no quack) with a under bridge PZM for the bulk of the signal. Using the piezo instead of the mic for the lows makes the system more resistant to LF feedback than just using a mic straight. There's a small active preamp and crossover built into the endpin jack.

Yeah that's somewhat my rig now but i use a warm audio wa12 split into the house and kettner head. I used to use a little chorus, a little verb, and a little compression plus a volume pedal which worked out pretty nice. Im debating using a g-major with a foot switch and something else i can assign volume increase too plus an eq. The g-major can take care of the compression chorus and verbs.

Never had a need to do that, I'm very satisfied with the B-band. It's full range, no crossovers, no phase issues, no tonal shifts. Easy to install too.

FWIW I ended up getting a Boss ad-3. It took me a minute to get the settings right but now I'm completely satisfied with how the acoustic sounds out of the amp. It does a great job of smoothing the highs and pulling up the lows. If i see an ad-8 going for a good price I'll definitely grab one. I'm really curious about the Yamaha acoustic stomp.
