Since it's Christmastime, I figured we can all use a good laugh, and we have discussed the state of Pop Country recently, or should I say disgusted with he state of Poop Country.
My friend's an Emmy award winning director/producer, he's worked with Brad Paisley, Big & Rich, Sugarland, Jewel, Beyonce`, Lenny Kravitz, Taylor Swift, Brooks and Dunn, Kanye West, (I know, I know ..) Blake Shelton, Vince Gill, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Bon Jovi, The Killers, Fall Out Boy, to name maybe 15% of the artists he's produced and directed videos for. Some pro session cats he knew, were dared into writing the worst Country Music they could make, and get this, they're getting serious interest with it, no $hit..
PL folks, here ya go.. a little Christmas fun for ya'll..

My favorite parts? "let the guitar player get some licks in", and the dancer on the right of the bass player, she really can dance, among other things.

Other than the Banjo is this actually country?
Serious question.
Either way, it's really bad.

That's the point, put a hillbilly accent on ANYTHING today, and it's "country". I hope you guys realize these are some serious musicians just having a lark, but it's like Spinal Tap, the more surreal it is, the more real real it gets.
And uhh.. yes, the dancing girl next to the bass player, (in a Beavis and Butthead voice) , uhh... uhh... huh..

I would venture to say that is freaking brilliant...
And I say that because it's obvious that it's parody. And it's extremely well-written. What they did there ain't easy...That's the songwriting "craft" at it's best - seriously...I'm pretty sure that is Chris Wallin who has had a ton of country hits - really great "craft" writer - look up some of his stuff. After looking it up, it looks like it's also Ira Dean (Trick Pony) and Bobby Terry (who produced Anthony Smith's awesome debut record and plays everything and a rocking chair)...
It's stupid, but they know it. Most of the stuff on country radio is bad but they DON'T know it...

I told you they were some serious cats. When that chorus hits, it's so in the pocket, it's ridiculously tight, the mix is so good, it's a frickin' benchmark, if you know what to listen for. The thing I want to know about most is the bass sound, THAT's sitting so perfectly, I'd really like to know the signal path and processor settings.

Thanks, that was funny. Well done. I don't hear much country though, maybe us Europeans don't really get the finer linguistic points with redneck accents and so on. Great catchy chorus though and the banjo in a well, let's say, rock/pop song, is quite interesting too. That's the kinda stuff I like to put in my songs, add elements that really don't belong there. Well crafted song and funny. Did I mention funny?

I know, listen twice, and you're hooked
anyone have a best guess on the kind of signal processing on the bass? After the holidays, I'll see if can find out

Sharing on bookface. Sad I didn't see it earlier. I've some friends who are big metal heads, and a few country heads.
Anyone reminded of Primus?

Written by the Warren Brothers. I think they are awesome though some may disagree. www.warrenbrothers.com/Their allmusic page is not up to date but they have written a slew of great songs with many #1's. I saw some early video's of them when they were long haired heavy metal rockers. Very interesting transformation over the years.

Ah, I found it! They use to go by St. Warren. Here is an old promo vid These guys are clearly nuts. Very humorous guys. I recall an interview where they were talking about the joke that Red Solo Cup was. Something like how they were surprised that TK cut the song and even more surprised he released a video for it. I just searched credits for Brett Warren and this is what I found www.allmusic.com/artist/brett-warren-mn0000521732 These guys have written some cheesy stuff but they have also written some great songs. Just my opinion.

I used to go see them at a place called Courtyard Cafe in the mid/late 90's...it was the place to be. Never written with them, but met them then and at various music things...Always really liked them. Also used to go see Phil Vassar play his own club in the late 90's...lots of good times...
