Thanks for posting these videos of Buckingham and Van Halen, two true master guitar players. One of the awful things that came out of the Grunge era was a condemnation of intricate guitar playing. It would be so cool if there was a revival of young, great rock guitar players. So much rock guitar playing in the post grunge era has been boring. Time to shake things up.

What I'd like to see is a resurgance of musical guitar playing. Not the excessive gymnastics of the metal shredders or the "thumb the nose at musicianship" of the grunge types. Something where the technique serves the music, not vice-versa.

Yeah... not taking anything away from Ed's mental/finger dexterity/agility, but I can only take so much of it; didn't watch the whole thing.

So, more Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, SRV, Lindsay Buckingham, Joe Bon, Ritchie Blackmore, Albert Lee, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore et al? I think I may have just listed most of my favorite players!

That is a beautiful guitar. I would love to have something like that, but without the floyd rose stuff.
Nice guitar playing also, hahaha.

Johnkenn, how could I forget Jack Pearson? I am ashamed. I will self flagellate in the corner now.

Another beautifully melodic player I like is a guy out of the Bay Area named Danny Caron. He's played with Robben, Dan Hicks, Clifton Chenier, really soulful.
