It could be a factory close out which would mean it's about to become discontinued. That's how I got my Soundcraft 324 Live so cheap.

Most times I get a track done with a Pod I find I'm battling the high end on distorted sounds. Anyone else have problems getting a pod to sit right?

I had the firstt generation pod. It was terrible. I could never get tracks to sit right but I am sure things have moved on. How are they these days?

I just sold a PodXT Pro rack-mount with a foot controller, Pod Farm software, the whole kit and kaboodle. I still have an HD500, but it's boxed-up, ready to be traded-in for something or sold. I actually got along better with the older PodXT, the HD500 could sound better but it takes a LOT of tweaking. I quite like the sound of the latest Pods, especially some of the high-gain sounds are fun to play with. Recording was a different matter, as Jordan said, very hard to get it to sit right. I find the Line 6 stuff to be best used for their effects, not for their amp models. For a while I had the HD500 connected to my H&K TubeMeister 36 via 4-cable method, and I really liked that combo.
I find the HD500 just too complex to use for effects alone, I may end up getting something like a Line 6 M13 which has basically the same effects and quality as the HD's, but in a much easier to use format. In addition to a couple of high-end overdrive boxes, in conjunction with the Kemper, I think it will be a killer rig.
