So... I have a fair assortment of guitar amps, and I fall in and out of love with them from time to time...
Recently, I may have mentioned this before, I purchased another Vox AC30. The fawn colored handwired made in England version from 1990... that is supposedly an exact replica of the best of the AC30s in the 1960s after the discarding of the GZ34 for 4 diodes. Now not was re-speakered with a pair of 80s Celestial Greenback 35 watt speakers and I have no idea what happened to the Alnico blues... but I have a stock of them.
Well, I haven't used any of the usual Dr. Z amps at gigs or church in over a month. I'm just dragging this BEAST around which is about 100 labs with the road case. Everyone remarks on how the tone is just so beautiful. Not sure if I'll stick with the Grennbacks, or pop in a pair of alnico blues or a blue and gold.
I thought I'd share.

I love my AC30 CCH. Paired it with a 2x12 cab with WGS Veteran 30s. Sounds great!! It's not a handwired, but it has the GZ, and the head is a little easier to lug around. Takes pedals really well, too.

Im actually looking for this exact amp you speak of, not sure about the GZ34 for 4 diodes though? Can you help me find one of these? Most I have found are in the $3500-$6000 range. What about the newer Hardwired versions? Not sure which ones you are describing from the 1990's How about this one? reverb.com/item/6358639-vox-ac30-tbx-fawn-uk-mercury-magnetics-upgrades

Glad you're liking it! I finally got to open up my Dr. Z Maz 18 at a show the other week after having it for 6 months and not being able to play at home beyond a whisper. For a guy who's go-to amp is either a Bandmaster, Tremolux or a Princeton Reverb, this was a nice change. Used an Archer Majestic pedal to drive it a little, and was super happy, as was the rest of the band. Glad you're enjoying the AC!

If anyone is looking for a new boutique handwired Vox, I have a Valvetech Hayseed 30, that I highly recommend. Rob at Valvetech is a great guy.

I've been thinking about an AC30 myself. There's a local AC30CC2 for sale that I might pick up, but I don't currently have a need for one. It's just cheap and local.
