Second time I've seen this CL1b, both different sellers, both redirecting to a private address. Presumably someone is hacking other addresses?

Pretty common. That's why I double-check the account history before bidding on expensive items.

If they went from exclusively selling electrical and plumbing parts for years to suddenly listing mountain bikes, cameras, and audio equipment, that should be a huge red flag.

I have never bought things online at all but recently I read ebay reviews that I really liked. I have been using it for about half a year and I am careful with it. I also check the account history and then I think whether to buy or not. But still it is a good site for good shopping
