I just pulled out the Fishman rig for my Taylor after not having used it for ..well, uhmm MANY years. Of course it requires a RTS cable for the blend and phantom.. Any recommendations for a high quality cable? I kind of like those tweedy cloth finished cables, but I'm open to suggestions.

I like the aesthetics of those tweedy cloth cables too, except that every one I've opened up hasn't really been very good cable inside - maybe there's some better ones I've missed, but so far I have not seen any that really impressed me.

You mean learn how to solder??!! Hmm.. There couldn't be an easier way to learn, right? What's the worst that could happen?

The more I think about it, the more I suspect it's not an uncommon occurrence for a rank beginner.

You don't want everyone to think you're chicken, do you? The easiest way to minimize that occurrence is simply to make sure that you always use a proper stand for your iron. Burns generally occur when you have the iron lying naked on a surface.

Scratching your face with a hot soldering iron is something you might want to avoid doing. And don't lay the hot soldering iron on your leg. jeans aren't as fireproof as you might think.

Scratching your face with a hot soldering iron is something you might want to avoid doing. Yeah, but I'll bet the itch goes away.

Ok, you got me beat with the face thing. And I don't recall ever putting one on my leg, although I've splattered enough hot solder there.

Soldering in one's underwear is not advocated.

Soldering in one's underwear is not advocated. No good in risking burning good underwear, right?

I showed a girlfriend of mine how to solder. Once i came into the room, she actually turned her head around, iron in her hand, and, well, it happened she burned herself. While she yelled "ouch" i couldn't resist to say "Burn, witch, burn!" I strongly advise not to do so. Believe me, it is not a good idea. Even worse than soldering in underwear. I tried both.
