Their new album just came out. Really enjoying it. The Doomed is my fav track at this moment but still working my way through the whole album.

Neat. I like them. I knew they were coming out with a record and had listened to some of the promo stuff but I didn't know it was out yet.

I like that it's new territory for them and still super vibey and compelling. But like"that old girlfriend you can never forget" I just can't hear Maynard's voice without remembering the day I heard Tool for the first time and how completely blown away I was. Undertow was at a time of stellar individualism and creativity in rock music and Maynard was just completely at another level. It was like being at a bar surrounded by gorgeous women (Chris Cornell, Rage Against The Machine, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam) and then in walks a chick who is so incredibly bad ass that you can't believe God makes such a creature. Tool was so incredibly unique and special that I can't listen to him without missing that time. I remember seeing them in a small rock club with a shitty PA and basically primitive everything and they still sounded incredible and completely swept people away. It was special and most importantly completely authentic.

I'll have to give it another shot. My tattoo artist put it on while he was punishing me, so it may have swayed my POV a bit. I dug the 1st track, but after that it lost me. I like their 1st couple records quite a bit. Got to see them years ago in a really nice theatre. Maynard's sense of humor was on full display. Great show.

Still trying to like the new Tool album. Not there yet..... But I went back and listened to Lateralus for the first time in a while now that it's streaming -- soooooo good.
