Where has the majority of Ampeg products been manufactured the past 5 years?
Honest question I really don’t know.
I predict quality will either stay the same or get better and prices will also stay the same.
Yamaha is a great company, they make great drums and hardware. I’ve no reason to believe the are going to turn Ampeg into a joke of a company.

I agree - they've done wonders for Steinberg products.
Cubase has become a really fantastic product under Yamaha's leadership and the Steinberg interfaces by Yamaha are first class too.

I still stand by my previous statement. It was nothing negative towards 'Yamaha' per se, although their forays into Kemble Music and Korg Inc. weren't necessarily viewed as positives.
Regardless of quality or support, in time there will be less and less love for Yampeg - as they will come to be known .
And it will be viewed as "just not the same". Granted, we live in revolutionary times, musically, and with the Chapter 11 status of Gibson, "just not the same" might be a fitting motto for this era.

Yamaha acquired Harman.

Nope. Samsung acquired Harman, and from talking to their CMO, so far the music side has been left alone. On Yamaha acquiring Ampeg, this could be good. Line 6 was acquired by Yamaha and from that team it's been a positive experience. Yamaha also gave back the Sequential Circuits name to Dave Smith in 2015, 28 years after they bought the assets in bankruptcy. Not every acquisition has to be awful and cost cutting. Think of Akai with Roger Linn... Actually, maybe it's just American companies that acquire others...

Yamaha popped into my mind on this thread

Yamaha makes outstanding instruments.
I can't possibly see this as a negative thing. People are just afraid of change.

Just my two cents but I think ampeg has been "just not the same" for a while now. Their cabinets are not all the same depeneding when and where they were made. Some are really cheap particle board, while others are proper, solid plywood. I think the Yamaha take over can be a good thing. Just my opinion of coarse.

I spoke to a long-time friend and colleague at NAMM 2017. His company had been acquired by Yamaha (I'm not going to mention the company name). My friend told me that Yamaha had been completely supportive of their new acquisition and he felt the company's future was bright. While I don't own any Yamaha gear these days except for Cubase and Nuendo, they've got a long-time history of strong support on the music side. if Ampeg had been thriving, then they wouldn't have been shopping for a buyer. Chances are pretty good the brand will do better as part of a strong company with a longtime musical history. You can't say this about every giant corporation that buys an audio company, but I think Yamaha has earned the benefit of the doubt.

I wish Yamaha had bought Opcode, instead of Gibson. Still miss StudioVision, after all these years.

Yep, SV Pro was really great, and was sad when it became incompatible with my setup. chaining segments together to build up songs couldn't have been easier. Worked there for the summer of 93 and still keep in touch with team members.
