I also got an Axe3 to replace my Axe2 recently. I didn't have the A/B, but I feel the feel is improved. Of course it is, since this has more lights and is bigger. But other than that, the new i/o possibilities and connections are great. The only thing limiting my sounds is me and my imagination. And perhaps guitars too. This thing is sensitive, it hears the player and guitar, and doesn't make everything sound the same like lesser modelers. Tweak your guitar, pick attack, string gauge, etc... The new floor pedal is a breeze to program too. I'm too lazy to take advantage of 10% of what it can do though... This^^^

The last couple weren’t my cuppa, but they did sound good. Extra points for the Rory Gallagher reference. And wondering why he taped over Gibson on his Lester.
I just picked up an Iridium, so this is down the road always if ever, but I’m still on the fence with the Iridium although haven’t played it through the monitors yet.
Cheers, Geoff

My Focal phones crumbled when I went to plug into the Iridium and not sure they can be repaired. My kid broke my other good phones so all I’ve got left are earbuds, which I don’t think is fair to the Iridium. ok, back to the Axe. Cheers, Geoff

I've got a pair of Focal Listen Pro's and the earpads are crumbling away. They are not that old or abused. I emailed Focal about it, and they wanted $70. I asked if it was normal for them to fall apart, and they said "Yes, but I think it's worse if you have a rough beard". That both turned me off to Focal as well as kinda creeped me out a little because I do have a beard. Someone must have Facebook stalked me or something.

My Ultrasones that my kid busted are crumbling like that. The Focals were just hanging off a mic stand and when I picked them up the socket between the earcups and the headband broke in two so the ear up is just hanging loose now. $300 headphones and a cheap piece of plastic worth a few cents probably has rendered them unusable. They had very low mileage on them. Anywho, back to the Axe. Cheers, Geoff

I know I’m starting to sound like a shill...but I swear this thing might be the best purchase I’ve ever made. The only kind of thing I can equate it to is when I bought my first really expensive acoustic guitar...or maybe the Upton. My search stopped. But - this thing is dynamic. It’s getting better. But it’s not just one thing - it’s also like having hundreds of acoustics or mics. Anyway - if you are teetering, you should just do it. And yes, I paid full price for mine. I know cowboycoalminer just got one...and svart you still liking yours?

I got the FX3 and the 6-button foot controller during the boxing day sale. I haven't had much chance to play with it yet, but I like what I'm hearing so far.

I just ordered the AxeFX III based on the testimony here, to add to my swelling arsenal of phony guitar amps. I damn well better like it. By accounts here, I should. More crayons.

Don't think you'll regret it, definitely lots of options (crayons) to explore/choose. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Quck question, I haven't read the entire thread, anyone using the Axe-FX III as a DAW effects processor?

Quck question, I haven't read the entire thread, anyone using the Axe-FX III as a DAW effects processor? I've played around with the re-amping feature on the AXE III. It not only works well for guitars, but I set up a preset and re-amped vocals also. The AXE has killer effects.

Yeah - haven't tried it...but some of the verbs are insanely good.

Quck question, I haven't read the entire thread, anyone using the Axe-FX III as a DAW effects processor? Don, I will be, absolutely. Fractal just released firmware version 12, which has an updated reverb algo and several expanded modulation effects. The verb alone sounds excellent. The pace of meaningful updates is astounding and puts the competition (Kemper, Line 6) to shame.

I know cowboycoalminer just got one...and svart you still liking yours? Heh, didn't see this until now. Yeah, still loving it. Still getting used to it too! There's just so much to get into. I've been going back through a few mixes and re-amping guitars with this thing for fun. I can scroll through the presets, find something close, go in and edit everything until it fits pretty well in under a few minutes when before it would take hours to try to get the amps and mics and such all working together for reamping before realizing that I should be using a different amp and mic.. I've really come to the conclusion that the cabinets are where the magic happens though. There are about 20 amazing cabinets in the thousands that just seem to be perfect. The rest can have their place I'm sure, but there's some real gems in there. I do need to update the FW. I think I'm still on 11.02 or something.

I've really come to the conclusion that the cabinets are where the magic happens though. Agreed, the IRs are crucial to the quality of the tone. I think it's an area where there's opportunity for third-party IR shooters to add usable alternatives to the already massive factory library. Even with the largesse provided, I find many of the cabinets to be either too bright or just not my style. Still, I occasionally check through them to see if there's any I've missed. I'm currently using IR Factory 2, #724 "4x12 Fractal V30 4047 1" with the "412 Brit TV" impedance curve for my main Marshall-style preset. The amp type I've settled on (for today) is "Brit Brown". Of course, what else could I choose? Well, the Plexis are pretty damn good. And the Friedman, and the Vox, and the Fender, and the Mesa, etc etc. Regardless of your style, it's all good!

Haven't played with the Ax3 as much as I'd like as studio still mostly in pieces as I re-arrange, but for live gigs with the Ax2 I created several Bonamassa style presets running dual amp blocks (clean and dirty) as well as blended IRs. There was a tool (blanking on the name at the moment) that allowed you to blend cab IRs as well - I set up a few that really helped cut through the mix live. There is a lot of depth in this product and it can really help find that elusive sound .

What does the tool do differently? You guys try the York Audio third party cabs? Really nice. But there are so, so many that it doesn’t really seem necessary.

Do you have any favorites?
