I've always liked using solid core when I'm wiring up boxes..... You can make nice bends and keep things organized without having to have wires all over the place and using zip ties. I'm pretty sure there's a silver tinned or something like that out there? I haven't wired anything up in a while so I'm not sure. The Mic wiring cable for DIY mics that's the silver braid stuff bends and holds it's shape really well too, that's a little more expensive I believe though. Try checking for some 18 or 22 awg that's oxygen free, maybe has the silver voodoo in it, always never let me down, wish I could think of where I got it and the name though. Hope that helps some.

Thanks Jerome, some helpful info for sure there. I figured this stuff would be nice to be able to twist wires together to keep noise down as well. Its multi strand tinned copper so should hold shape fairly well, though is multistrand. Good to hear that 18g is good enough. I'll get some of that and 22g. Ill keep poking around. I know hairball sells 16 and 22g stuff by the foot as well.

Remington Industries makes nice multicolor kits of various gauges, solid or stranded. You can get them on Amazon.

A lot of console wire is 24 or 26. 18 is lamp cord, hardly anything internal needs that size.

Yeah, larger for power if it fits, but 18 won't fit lots of places. 20 or 22 may. Have a selection of all!

Or pres, or compressors, or EQs, or mics, or...

22 or 24 for signals, 20 for power will be fine. More strands equals more flexibility for the most part. No need for silicone or PTFE insulation unless you just want to spend money. Pre-tinned makes life easy but isn't necessary and just costs more. Solid is OK, but beware that it has a lower bond strength because the solder is only bonding with the circumference of the single conductor, not entwined with numerous conductors. This means that it has a habit of breaking loose if there's any vibration or twisting. it also snaps off if bent more than a few times too.
You can spring for the so-called low-oxygen or the high silver or whatever, but such short lengths as is internal to DIY gear would render any potential benefit (if you believe in that stuff) moot anyway.

Thanks for the info Svart! I'll go for some 20 and 22 I think for now. Maybe just some black and red for PSU stuff as its cheap to get 6-10feet of it. I'll go for multi strand. I like using zipties and the sick on ziptie offs anyways. Thanks!
