This is in every DIYRE build guide. I just extracted the html site from the page so its just the resistor color calculator. maps.diy.re/res-calc/index.htmlSuper simple and handy. I know not a lot will find this helpful but it is a great quick way to check resistors visually especially if your meter isn't super accurate. Just type in the resistor value or plug in the colors you see to get a value back. (note, for 47k resistor, type 47K not 47,000. Do this for all numbers, just type the value as printed in BOM and such) Thanks Peterson for making this!

Yeah, sweet! I've seen that. But my problem is more differentiating the colors themselves. I don't know if the printing is different or my eyes are. Used to be easier for me. I'm due for glasses, but I've been putting it off. Even with magnifying glasses, at certain angles, it's difficult for me to differentiate between certain colors. A meter is pretty simple though....
Cheers,
bp

Cheers, bp Haha yeah eyes are always the limit there! I think Im going to pick up some just magnify 2x glasses to wear while I do this to make it less of a strain on my eyes. They are starting to get worse I can tell and only about to hit middle age.. Meter is still my favorite way to check them myself. But I found this pretty cool and handy if ever Im second or triple guessing myself LOL! With my new meter I trust it a lot more than my other one which was low tolerance.

Try this Bill resistorvision.comI have it on my phone but have yet to use it and yeah getting old sucks. Okay that is cool! Yeah I was planning on building a couple of kits for friend and downloaded it to make things easier so I downloaded it , and then the guy decided to go in another direction. It is amazing what one can do with a Smartphone these days.

Oh man....doesn't do 5 band resistors.

yup. But try to share stuff that works. LOL Sorry, couldn't resist. Thanks though. Someday I may have a project that uses only 4 band resistors.

The obvious and the "resist" part Would be cool if someone developed something like that for android and iphone. That actually worked. Plus how would that app know which order to read them..

I use electrodroid for double checking my color math. Has a bunch of cool calculators and such build in.

Normally I just rely on the old WWII military mnemonic.
