This is dumb, because I already know the answer, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. I've just got in a power amp that that the seller didn't package properly. Just bouncing around in the box (urgh, seriously? C'mon). Anyways, the power switch is now broken, among other things. I want to fire this thing up to see if it's worth keeping, and to see if there is other damage. I want to just tie the wires off the power switch together and use something like a power strip as an on/off, just to get it running. I'm 99.9% sure that's fine, as long as I properly shield the exposed connection to prevent it coming into contact with anything else. Though there's always that seed of doubt that there is something I'm not thinking of. So, easy enough to fire off a post to see what you all think of my plan? svart EmRR

indiehouse For a quick test of the amp, probably ok if you twist them tightly or use a wirenut on the wire ends.

It they're soldered to the switch you could probably use clip leads (carefully) in a pinch. Just don't try to run the amp at full power with all that line current running through a skinny test lead.

I think they are on terminals, either a spade/fork or ring. Thinking about clamping them together with a short screw and nut, then wrapping the terminals in electrical tape or heat shrink to prevent it from touching anything else.
