Help me spend some money. Any recommendations? After getting a demo day before yesterday, I can give you a solid recommendation. Locomotive 14B. OMG. I'm going to have to buy 2 of them. Immediately. And just when I thought I had enough VariMu's. LOL. Really, an amazing piece of engineering that sounds out of this world. What makes it better is that Eric has moved over to "selling direct" pricing!!!!!!!!!!! Win/Win!! Please do not put in your order before I have a chance to on Monday!!

How much are they asking for the C7 John? I'm guessing 30k. Probably cost you 10k to truck it across country, Bill. That's way too much unless it has the MIDI playback option. Yeah, best to look local. If there's one thing that you can find for pennies on the dollar, it's high end piano's. People buy em, never play em, and then they can't sell em. Practically can't give em away. I had an eye on a 7 footer Yamaha with the Disclavier option in Vegas. Low 20's. $21 I think. It was white though, and I couldn't quite convince my wife.... LOL Oh, there's one other bargain for pennies on the dollar - used consoles. AS long as they are not 80 series Neves or Old API's.

Pappy Van Winkle I was at a swanky business function at a very high end steakhouse a few years ago and a drunk coworker was berating our waiter. The waiter took it in stride and said something like, how can I make you happy? And my idiot coworker said “give this man anything he wants!” So the waiter looked at me and said, “ok, lay it on me.” I protested a couple of times, but they both kept pressing so I laughed and said “I’d like some Pappy, neat.” The waiter made a face and said “man you know we don’t have any.” And I replied - yeah, seriously I’m fine. About twenty minutes later he very subtly walks up, shows me a bottle, and pours me a glass of Pappy. Best whisky I’ve ever had. My CEO invited us to a dinner a few years ago and he's a huge scotch/brandy fan. I like scotch and brandy too, and he decided that we needed a couple glasses of something, which I can't remember what it was now. The waiter/bartender came over and asked both of us if were actually going to drink the whole glass, because they weren't going to serve it if we weren't serious. Both of us agreed. He brought out this crystal bottle and poured the last of the bottle into our glasses and we enjoyed them. My CEO asked if he could keep the bottle, but the restaurant kept it since apparently they were collector's items and sell for hundreds of dollars. He then turned to me and asked if I liked it, and I did. He said "good, these are 100$ a glass".

Never had Pappy...I’ve heard some say it’s fantastic and some say it’s overrated. Been drinking a bottle of Woodford Double Oaked that’s really good. Love Angels Envy, Jefferson and Weller of course, but there’s nothing wrong with a $25 bottle of Bulliet or Rittenhouse. Weller and Pappy are the same recipe. They are all stored in the same areas of the Rick houses - you can see em all lined up if you go for a tour (highly recommend). Anyway, the head taster fella basically tastes the barrels and decides which is gonna have what label. The Weller is a great value if you can find it. Hard to get around here for a reasonable price. For the Bourbon folks, check out the whisky row stuff that Old Forrester is putting out. The “1910” is absolutely out of this world good. I’d take it over a Pappy to be honest and it’s readily available, around here at least.

30K for a C7 seems high.

Bulleit Rye is my staple. Oaky, cheap, good. Since this has turned into an alcoholics anonymous thread , Wild Turkey 101 hasn't let me down in years. If Turkey is too much alcohol, Eagle Rare is my next choice. 80 proof and tastes identical to Turkey. Probably my favorite honestly. I like Turkey in those rare cases when I'm on a plane...

Eagle Rare is really good too. Cheap. The cheapest really good bourbons I’ve had were the Evan Williams Single Barrel and Old Forester Rye. Like in the low $20s per bottle.

If you liked Pappy, WL Weller is in the same vein as a wheated bourbon.

I'm partial to Evan Williams 1783 myself, as a super-budget pick. It's about as low as you can go without regretting your drink. Surprisingly full flavor for the price, lots of oak, nothing too harsh about it. Turkey 101 also gets a thumbs up from me.

Sorry, cowboycoalminer. I started to try and just move the bourbon posts and it would have just made the whole thing confusing. Repost that question on the main board if you want.

I’m more of a Glenlivet guy though Think I'm going to the best seller of whiskeys just down the road, this afternoon, with the youngest 2/5 kids and add to the whiskey collection. I was thinking on adding a bottle of 15 Redbreast.

Pappy is nice- but has anyone had some Appleton estate 21 year rum?ill take that neat or in a mai tai any day.... Rum is where it’s at, the next whisky for sure once people discover Good rum isn’t spiced or coconut flavored.

Here's a neat trick: Try a shot of sherry with 2 shots of your favorite whiskey, neat or over ice. Beats the heck out of the cherry whiskeys like 'Red Stag'.

I haven't bought anything new in ages. Almost jumped a couple times at AMS 1081 pair but couldn't pull the trigger. But I think I'm about ready to fall off the wagon. Help me spend some money. Any recommendations? You might want to start another thread about now . . . LOL We've all been falling down rabbit holes lately! (Queue 'Oh No, The Radio' Johnkenn)

If you can find someone to serve you a Polish Mad Dog shot it's a hell of an experience. Raspberry syrup, some hot sauce, and some vodka. It's one of my best recent discoveries. I cooked my own syrup, haha, I feel like Walter White.
Luksusowa vodka is the big discovery. It's one of the best vodkas I have ever had under $40. Now the Stolichnaya has lost just a tiny bit of its esteem, although still very good.
I realize this is the Bourbon sub forum but it's been a while since I've had the stuff. I figure Vodka is similar enough since I'm into it (responsibly.)
