Thanks man! 11 days in a row. Yesterday was fun, when clients decided to drop by a couple bottles of 'utility' bourbon as a late Christmas gift. They're parked in storage now.

Stardate 2021.1.25 day 26 of dryness is having a weird effect on my senses. The kids seem louder and the wife seems well . . . also louder and harder to ignore. Bottles of distilled and aged corn and rye liquor continue to accumulate in all corners of the control room, hiding in each closet. Bourbon seems to have become the currency for paying for favors, loaners and small repairs. Hmmm . . . how will I ever get through all this is February and March

My month of drought has ended and in the wee hours of the morning, a single shot of Bulleit was poured over ice and slowly savored. It was lovely.

We went with a nice Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley with dinner last night and wow.... I almost forgot how delicious it could be. The month off actually made me appreciate it more.

Willamette is pretty tough to beat for Pinot. I'm a born and raised PNW guy so I'm usually drawn more to the big bordeaux varietals and blends that do so well here. But Willamette Pinot Noir is a thing of beauty.

I am certainly appreciating it more now!! My blood pressure spiked from the dry month. So it was an easy choice to go back to ONE drink per day, as opposed to blood thinners and blood pressure pills and eventually heart medication. Beer - invented by God's chosen people Wine invented by God's chosen people Bourbon - invented by a Baptist preacher. nothing sinful about having a drink!

I'm day 14 of a not quite voluntary dry spell - dogs went after a deer in yard as I was taking them out 2 weeks ago, ended up 12 feet from door on rear concrete patio. Door is only 2 steps up but they went so fast I was about 4 feet in the air before coming back down - right on my head. Needless to say concrete won - and I got to be a patient in the local civilian ER when I couldn't get up/stand secondary severe vertigo. Ended up with Grade 3 concussion - luckily it was the week I had taken for leave so had 8 days off before back to work. Still unsteady when changing positions and have a nice spinning ride when I first lay down at night - so no ETOH (which is ok) but also had to park the motorcycle for the duration - missing the best PNW weather. So no bike rides or booze till symptoms completely resolve

But don't worry -- you'll be back to a handle-a-week in no time!
