I am continuing to use it on a daily basis... been tracking acoustic guitars with it and its really nice.. doing those in Cardoid...about a 8 inches out off NBJ.
Continuing to use fig 8 for vocals... and if you give it a little distance say 10 /12 inches its really great.
So far so good...
cheers

I did hear that Australia has lots of Choral Reefs. Speaking of 8's, last week I recorded an Octopus. (who was pretty intelligent with phrasing). It was the early Beatles hit, "I want to hold your"..."Hand hand hand hand hand hand hand hand". Chris

It was in his brother's ("Doc") place after hours... The Oyster Bar. They were trimming the Garden with clippers. We were well armed with mostly current gear, although it's kind of a dive. Turns out they're both i-tenticle Twins too! (See what happens when I get encouraged ) Chris

I almost pulled the trigger on this mic so many times in the last week. Trying to resist, as I don't really need another mic, other than a CK12 based mic. It's really tempting though. Ben makes some really great stuff.

Well I took a gamble and ordered the Version 2 BU67, it arrived today and i did some quick vocal testing in Cardioid mode. Surprising Cardioid had more proximity effect then Fig 8 mode. IF my Soyuz 017fet was suppose to emulate a 67, then this Bu67 sounds nothing like it. I never gelled with the Soyuz 017 but this BU67 sounds very nice. I can hear the capsule doing it's thing. I wont be looking back or missing that Soyuz 017 anymore. The sound - Its like with the Heiserman H47T you can the quality capsule and tube interplay to produce a rich harmonic very pleasing sound. I have to report back and say on very brief initial tests, I am hearing that same harmonic richness in this BU67 ver2. If this is what a 67 sounds like, then I really dig it. My Stam 67 (ver1) never sounded like this. Its super quiet and not noisy at all. I think Ben must have hand picked this one for me as at the moment I am very very impressed. No other Beesneez mic I have owned (which has been quite a few) has quite impressed me like this. I am glad to report that even his packaging has improved with the hard shell soft carry case style. I did hear from one of the dealers that Ben has gone back to assembling this himself to maintain inhouse quality. Well if that is true then the results are definitely worth it. If you are seriously on the fence with this mic, after reading this you have no excuse now but to buy one. Disclaimer: I have not received any special favours or future favours from writing this.

Hey so I finally connected the dots. You're also "Kumbari"! Very cool. As some may know I have the MKI version of the BU67. (you may also know the "gift" story behind it) Anyway... If we make the BU67 a "10"/Great on the grading curve... * FWIW my other condensers (factoring in my relatively lesser understanding to the high RGO standard here ) Soundelux U195 around Solid 9. "Excellent" Stock Oktava 319 (OK it's actually the best one I've heard or had-got VERY lucky!) Around a "7". (Comparable to a "new" U87ai BTW) The AKG P120 and stock Oktava 219, are solid 5's. Fine for BGV's and occasional Leads. Warm 47jr and AKG 200 Perception? Mostly oddball stuff/sometimes Character Voices. Chris *My infamous stock MXL V69 (with VF-14) is a whole different kettle of fish. Once I get that world class capsule from either Ben S/Tim C/Eric H... I'm thinking arm wrestling to determine who gets this MARVELOUS opportunity. Whoever loses to me the worst-makes it. Bock gets the Circuit design for the FAT switch-can't leave him out! Then finally have Klaus "KH" it. We'll have to adjust the Grading. Or simply make it go to 11.

[quote author=" hadaja" source="/post/331060/thread" timestamp="1686894461"If you are seriously on the fence with this mic, after reading this you have no excuse now but to buy one.[/quote] Def curious about this version but as I just got a second MKI, I think I’m good. I have a tracking session in a couple weeks and can’t wait to jump in with a pair of these! I’ve got some very nice mics - Lawson, Stam, Mic Rehab, Cathedral Pipes but I think the BU67 is my favorite. Added bonus - it has about the least annoying shockmount I have.

I knew the BU67 sounded good. I didn’t realise the mk2 would leave the 67RI with EF806s behind. This is getting silly. mics is building the best sounding capsules and mics in the world no doubt. New understated logo looks great too. My 2 pairs have me smitten!

Hi Paul. I really do appreciate your kind words. I am very happy with the mk2, the sum of all parts just works so well and every time I use one to record, I still shake my head and smirk!!
I look forward to hearing some tracks with your mics.
Thanks again.
Ben

I wonder how the mk2 sounds compared to the mk1. I have the mk1. It sounds great. Is there any Sonic difference?

Guess it's kinda like having 4 engine/fuelsettings for your V12 Ferrari! I have the MKI. And am looking forward to eventually completing lead vocals on a cover of "Goodtime Charlie's Got The Blues". The Danny O'Keefe 1972 classic, that got recorded at American, with The Swampers. Went to #9 USA. (Just sent a SM58 rough draft scratch vocal off to Kenny Bronowski last night) To help establish the Key. Chris P.S. It's no MXL V69. Thank God. LOL!

How are the shock mounts? I have a friend with two of the mounts and he tells me they should be avoided.

How are the shock mounts? I have a friend with two of the mounts and he tells me they should be avoided. I really like them, honestly. I have a friend who had problems threading them and dislikes them but I have had no issues. The only mount I prefer is for my stam 47 MKI. That thing rules and I wish I could get more like it for other mics (prob wouldn’t work for the tapered body of the 67, tho. Or hell, I just wish it had a clip like the Lawsons

As you also have M49Vs, it would be wonderful to know if/when Ben’s 49 reaches this pinnacle! I knew the BU67 sounded good. I didn’t realise the mk2 would leave the 67RI with EF806s behind. This is getting silly. mics is building the best sounding capsules and mics in the world no doubt. New understated logo looks great too. My 2 pairs have me smitten!
