Just bought the B67/268 V2 from Mark at Wind Over Earth. Nice guy and a great price. Now my only worry is that I will like it so much that I need to buy two!

Note this and cash flow are why I have not grabbed on of his classic series 49’s because I will want 2 or 3. Hudsonic think classic Mercury. Plus if we get a Sony C37 from him… Ok I have a kid in college can’t afford pairs of this whole series.

Got a chance to use the B67-269 v2 tonight in a session. Singer came in to do harmonies on a song. The lead was recorded with the Wunder CM7GS/M7 so I set that up as well.
A friend had loaned me a vintage U67 a few months ago. Honestly, I hated it. Small and thin. Now, I realize it must have been defective. Bens B67 is pretty great. I may do a review on it if I have the time.
So far, only two ... Make that four complaints: 1-The shockmount was already stripped so it doesn't hold the mic. 2-The xlr is so tight that it's near impossible to plug it in 3-The internal switches are cryptic at best. My best guess on which was was on or of was completely wrong, and I based it on the pictures on their Web site 4-Last, the output is possibly 6dB lower than any of my other condensers.
I'm pretty sure I had the dip switches in the right place... After failing the first time. 5- yes there's more, the power supply has no light to tell you if it's on.
How does it sound? I need more time but so far it sounds "done". A U47 needs a little low mid cleanup and some high end added. This needed nothing to sit in the mix. I had 12 stacked vocals. It didn't sound bloated like a U47 would. I still prefer the CM7 for leads but the B67 sounds very nice. I need more time to experiment.

I use a CM7 (M7) for male leads as it’s my absolute favourite for male vocals, I just love the reedy mid push (especially the sound of a great EF14) 67 on male vocals has never floated my boat. What other sources are you lovin’ the BN 67 on? Female vocals Acoustic Percussion Guitar cabs Backing vocals Any thoughts?

No other thoughts just yet on it. I liked it on the background vocals so far. Hopefully I can do more test today.

Hi guys. Sadly we have had a few stripped mounts that double cut (basically the barrel didn’t align when the second thread pass was cut and thus cross cut) so far we have found 7 like this and it is likely restricted to 15 as this is how many can be cut from one piece of solid so there are a few more out there that we missed. If your’s is one, please email us and we will ship you a new mount at no charge. No need to return the original mount.
The cable is tight but it will loosen over time when the mating surfaces relax. We know this can be a pain at first but you’ll thank me later when it still makes contact in years to come.
I’m glad you love the sound!
Cheers
Ben

Thank you Ben, I will shoot you an email.
Unfortunately Josh, the switches are completely different. It's now a single dip switch with 5 switches. I like it but am just a little confused. I will get it sorted out.

Also Ben, The mic is great. My gripes have nothing to do with the sound.
On a side note, do you have any wooden boxes for the mics? I'd rather have a smaller box and keep the other stuff always set up.

I then checked out the mic with all its different switch configurations (5 dip switches). These are listed as 1. Pad 2. Hi Pass 3. S2 Broadcast Mod 4.OLD 269 5. New 67 4 and 5. Old 67 All Off. New 269 Wiz, Can you confirm the switch settings you listed? The pictures shown on the Beesneez web site seem to be opposite of what I found, unless I am remembering incorrectly. The dip switch itself shows ON as being to the right (at least that is what is printed), but the pictures Ben has posted would indicate that the ON position is to the left, which I found not to be correct. I noticed it right away due to the pad. I had all the dip swithes set to the right, and the pad is engaged. He shows the opposite, that the pad is ON to the left. Hopefully, I'm not making this even more unclear. As you can see from this pisture from the web site, It shows Pad as being ON to the left. On my mic, to the right is ON.

Morning..
Just placed an order for the BN BU67-269 this morning..got it off of Reverb via Mark from Wind over Rain. Anticipating a great sounding mic.. As I've been sitting in these weeds watching and waiting for the honeymoon period on these mics to pass...i still haven't really seen a negative review on either version of this mic..good! I'll get used to cryptic switching and tight jacks.. i've got bigger problems, for example, bugs in my zoot suit...also, seeing where my cursor is on this blue website.
Chessparov will be happy to know that instead of sending him more questions, i decided to actually buy the damn mic. Ben, too. I've bugged the hell out of this guy for a few years about various mics-changing my name so as not to leave a trail of tears...The thing that always held me back was -Australia- and support for products..because, Australia. Im nowhere near there.
Very happy to see that a dealer has been established here, hopefully, in time, that will lead to a tech service conduit in the US. Initially i got focused on this Mic because of Klaus H's singling out Ben's K47 capsule in a post on his Mic corner discussion..hoping the same quality has been achieved with this K6..
Question on stock tube in this mic..i know it's an EF86 ..are these a mix of Brimar (STC) and Mullards?..or simply all Mullard?
I don't do much rube rolling but is anyone messing with different ef86? Just curious..Im assuming that Ben has gone to lengths to test his stock of tubes and that the power supplies are nicely matched to this abbondanza of tubes he found. The Mullard EF86, as NOS, does have a rep for some noisiness tube to tube.
Also, what's everyone's favorite, general purpose setting on this mic? Old//New? How are your Polar Patterns? -is this a rhetorical question? ..any favs?
thanks... and thanks, Chess, for your generosity in the info department and general verve

Just for clarity, I got this info from Mark and am hoping it's correct. 1) Pad 2) HPF 3) S2 Broadcast Mod 4 & 5 work together
4R, 5R = Old 67 4L, 5R = New 67 4R, 5L = Old 269 (this is what I had it set for) 4L, 5L = New 269
Very nice sounding mic. I found the Old 269 to be great on backup vocals. I can stack a lot of them without too much mud buildup. I'm still contemplating getting a second one but need to see how I like it on other sources first.
Krackle, just note that the threading on the shock mount is pretty delicate and also the connector/cable is super tight. I mean, super tight.

Got my replacement shockmount yesterday. I contacted Veronica. Its also defective. The first threads that actually mate to the mic are stripped. It just slides over the mic and never even grabs when I try to screw it on. Bummer. Hopefully the third will work out.

I'm sure they will get this sorted out. It's really a special mic, so it's worth the little bit of difficulty

We have a third one on its way to you but if this one doesn’t fix the issue, we might send a sleeve mount version that grips the body. I have personally tried this third one in another mic repeatedly and it was fine. If it isn’t in your mic then the male thread may be the suspect. Sorry for the pain. We have more than 200 of the mk2 mics already shipped and have only seen this problem a handful of times. Sorry. Ben
