A couple things will make life easier when building these, i built 6 of the bbc versions.
no order here,
1. use a gauge block clamped to the chop saw fence, so you can just put the 8' 2x2(actually 1.5x 1.5) up against it to make fast, repetitive cuts with out measuring every time!
2. rip the 2x2's down on 2 sides to ensure they make exact squares, from the lumber supplier, they will be wider on one side than the other, or your end result will look shoddy
3. lay out your grid with a framing square, out of 1x4, make a 90 degree stop around 50% of your backing board, then tilt your backing board on edge to use gravity to hold the pieces snug, will yield a much cleaner result.
4. make some extra cut offs to use as temporary spacers in the "0" holes
fun project, and they sound super sweet for sure, play an acoustic in front of it about 2 ft off, and you'll be surprised!

So THIS is why I should never do DIY. Went to Lowe's and grabbed 2x2's out of the 2x2 section. Already had the 2'x2' particle board. I came home, grabbed my trusty skill saw and commenced to a cuttin'. All went well until I realized - after cutting all the pieces - that I had bought 1x1's instead. Yes, they were labeled 2x2 - but you would think I would have noticed. Anyway - I was too lazy and too tired to go back and buy 2x2's - so I went ahead and made it. Think it's of any use at all? I'm kind of incredibly embarrassed. PLEASE SEE MY AVATAR FOR EVIDENCE

sorry john, but lmfao! that is awesome man! I admire your effort, it may work a.......no, i can't do it, no john, it won't work!Lmfao!!! You are friggin awesome man! It actually would have worked starting at a higher frequency point, but the gaps between the pegs have rendered this effort all but useless, I'm sorry to report. I'd be interested to hear Ethan Winers take on this? Btw, i'm not sure i believe you did this? R u screwing with us? because i cant stop laughing!!!!!! If nothing else, it brought a smile to my heart, kinda like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree! exhibit A, sorry john the thread loses it hilarity without context T edit; Omg! i cannot stop laughing!!!!!

After further investigation, I've determined that it was not entirely my fault. The egregiously confusing website gave me two size options (which I didn't notice)...and I mixed up the instructions...I have my lawyers looking into it and may consider class action...
BTW, I knew I was screwed before I even laid out the blocks, but what was the point in stopping my Sunday afternoon project then? Could you imagine me trying to solder something?
I might change my avatar to this...

lmao! The crazy thing is, you made remarkably good cuts with a skilsaw?? not an easy thing to do! I did mine with a chop saw, if you can pop those off that backing board, all is not lost! you can put them back together in the same sequence(with no gaps), it will be smaller of course, and it's useful diffusion range will start at a higher frequency, not sure what frequency, but will still be useful. The way it is now, the gaps destroy the diffusive efficacy of the piece. let us know what you end up doing? and thanx for making my evening!

dude, seriously my gut is killing me, i have not laughed this hard in a while!!!
Now if we switch our avatars back, this thread is going to be like watching someone walk into a spiderweb from 50 yards away! "why is that guy doing that funny dance?"
edit, for clarification sake, myself and johnkenn switched our avatar pics to that amazing skyline diffusor pic at virtually the same time lol!
mine is now changed to Charlie Brown.

I'm actually building a 2D version: It's my first try and it's a bit rough. I need to build the other half though.
