They're both good and they both have their merits. If you’re doing serious restoration work, dialogue clean up, ADR etc then I’d say you need both. In any given source either could sound better. That being said I give Acon the edge. It seems to work a little better a little more of the time for me. YMMV For the most part it would be dehummimg single coils and cleaning up vocals. Moving into a place with forced air so can I dewhoosh when the furnace kicks in? Or take down the general craptacularness of the room. Guitar desqueak would be nice but there may be other ways to address that. Etc. Cheers, Geoff For removing electronic guitar hiss and general vocal hiss they both work pretty good. For more complex background noise, like HVAC, machinery, refrigerators etc Acon has been more useful to me. But for serious restoration/clean up I commonly do light pads from both RX and Acon for the best results. They’re algorithms seem to target different things, even when comparing the same tools (de-hum, de-hiss etc).

Ok, Rx standard is 40% off which comes out to $180. I believe that is Canuck, but i should confirm. Acon’s suite of plugs is $100, or around $140 Canuck. So reasonably similar in price. Anyone used both and have opinions on the relative merits of both? Edit. Wrong I was. Rx 11 standard is 323 Canuck. Not gonna bite at that price. Cheers, Geoff I thought the big Rx was like $700?

True but seems a tad underwhelming. Both the deals so far announced and the lack of a blockbuster new product, at least for my interests. I might do one of the UA pedals. Or not. The Kiive bundle is another maybe. I don’t think the 609 is available in that which would be the top of my list of their stuff. So I dunno. Isit and watch and wait. Cheers, Geoff Honestly, most of the Black Friday deals you will see are not that good. For the most part those deals can be obtained easily if you have a decent relationship with a gear pimp. For the most part in the area of consumer electronics Black Friday deals are dominated by private lable crap. If as a subset of consumer electronics we want that I’m sure GC would love to sell us a bunch of Sterling stuff every year at heavy discounts. Waiting means we understand that we will enjoy discounts on stuff that is either overstocked or in the case of some stuff bring us in the door. I used to laugh at most of our competitors Black Friday deals, many were are standard mark, almost all could be beat on any given Tuesday. Beating them was easy. It was more fun just closing a deal on something someone just wanted. I’ve been meaning to ask this…how should one approach said pimp for the good deals? I’ve never gotten a deal out of a Sweetwater rep.

I've had success a couple times, but you usually have to demonstrate how/why you are about to purchase from somewhere else. It was also on items >$500 and has to have enough margin built in. not getting any deals on an item already on sale. Sometimes I have been told there was no room (margin) on an item to discount it. Sweetwater also does give you the 2 year warranty on most items so they will try to use that against you lol.

My approach was "I'm looking at your bundles and they're great deals but not the stuff I want. Could we do a custom bundle with some discounts?" Got the R8 and eight 500 units for about $700 off retail and free rush shipping. About 20% off or so.

The hardest, thing is actually finding a gearpimp who will work with you, unfortunately that’s luck of the draw. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone currently at SW who will give decent prices, word has it that the new masters are more concerned about margin.

Price is no indication of margin & may I humbly point out gearpimps, office staff & whare house staff like to eat & pay rent.

I straight up asked my guy to suggest brands with the best margin so he'd have the best chance of discount. I think it helps coming in with a willingness to potentially buy a lot of different things as opposed to "can you get me a great deal on a 2024 Martin D-28 Deluxe Special Edition with custom pick guard?"

Yeah the full version is pretty expensive. I was looking at Standard which is middle tier and still not cheap. Cheers, Geoff

If it were only that simple😳. Issues such as MAP, how costs are calculated, insensitives, free freight, terms, rebates & politics all play into it😜. Let’s not forget funny enough SW probably has the best margins these days on Behringer because they are the distributor, let’s forget the strict MAP policy, it would be fun to see how that is all calculated in SW’s computer.

Still finding this year’s offerings middling at best. So I continue to sit and wait. I guess we shall see if there will be anything interesting in the next few days.

Anyone heard of or bought from www.kalaplugins.com ? They have some crazy discounts but I’m not sure this is a legit site. They have Teletone Soulfi for $24 euro (normally $120usd). And a bunch of other Kontakt instruments for the same price. Edit: nevermind, I figured it out…it’s all cracked/pirated software. Beware.

Yeah, generally if you’re getting a better discount than plugin boutique, plugin discount, or audio deluxe, it’s probably too good to be true.

Cheers, Geoff While there are quite a few companies who have gone to Black Friday month (or two), there are still some that only drop their sales right on or very close to BF, sometimes only for that weekend (though most extend at least partly into December).

The emails and ads seem to be ramping up in volume as we get closer.
Waves is offering their typical "free" plugin (sign up and they'll tell you what it is on BF).

Their free plugins are just to get their Waves Central software on your computer to increase their user base and market value on paper. Then get you to wup later.

The upside is that I'm on Windows so I don't have to WUP for every minor OS release (like Mac users do). It's actually been several years now.
