MELDA PRODUCTION PLUGINS. Most of their plugins are deeply discounted. I've been eyeing the MconvolutionMB for a while because I want to get back into convolution verb and importing other impulse libraries. (Not all convolution plugins such as Seventh Heaven allow for that.) I just ran a quick test as it comes with a number of spaces provided and has a user-friendly GUI--so far so good. On sale for $23. HERE is the link.

Acon put their stuff on sale so I finally spent some money this Black Friday. Also picked up the Wave Alchemy freebie reverb.
Cheers, Geoff

Sonimus is offering between 40-60% off depending on single pulgins and bundles. Son EQ is great(even the free one) and StoneEQ4K is great for a simple paired SSL EQ.

Bought some of the Raising Jake stuff, 30% off for the holiday season. Trialed and liked a few of them. Clever code and very specific, not a lot of software tackling the same problems in the same way.

Might try out Pristine Peaks.

I'm not griffinpb (clearly :-) but just thought I'd chime in that the RSJ pluggos are really nice. Great performance for specific tasks with some neat features and approaches. I have Side-Minder 2 ME, True Mid-Side, and Limited-S. All highly recommended.

while we are talking the RJ stuff, you should get the free "Stereo Swapper" too. One, because it has a "mono" setting (always useful) and two, are you sure your 2 ears hear exactly the same? I'll admit mine don't always (depends who is playing guitar!). So swap left to right and right to left (with one click) and check it. You may find something out of whack or maybe not, but takes only a few seconds to be sure. Best $0 I ever spent.

Wow - Sonnox plug-ins price has collapsed!
The market speaks.
Naturally all the plug-ins and VI’s Sample libraries I want to buy are not in any sale!

No - it's an unmasking thing...I use it for stuff like Kick and Bass. I'll send a sidechain of the kick to the unmask plugin on the bass, it then dynamically EQ's the portion of the bass that interferes with the kick frequencies. Also use it on other instruments to duck out say a little EG frequencies when they're covering vocals. Or B3, etc.

Wow - Sonnox plug-ins price has collapsed! The market speaks. Naturally all the plug-ins and VI’s Sample libraries I want to buy are not in any sale! The music industry collapsed. The best hardware dynamics processors are almost all not made anymore for example. The software that replaced them is dirt cheap now to get the customers to pay the revenue to employ the programmers.

So I already own "The Sony Oxford EQ" (originally bought for Powercore for £650 in 2004 = of £1250 in todays money - how crazy is that!!) Inflator (don't use it anymore) TransMod (use that all the time) Dynamics - bought recently for £55 - I should of waited longer! Anymore Sonnox plugins you recommend I add?

VoxD Thicken and Widen really surprised me. I think I even posted somewhere on this forum something along the lines of "why would anyone use this?" I use them all the time now. All the time. Instant John Lennon vocal sound if you want it (Instant Karma?) and lots of other cool things. Honestly I'm kind of addicted to it and probably will look back at this phase of my production career and cringe but, whatever. I like it. Maybe I won't forever. Actually from what I've read/heard Lennon himself had a similar problem. He got used to his voice being doubled (usually artifically btw) and couldn't stand the sound without it. That's how I feel about VoxD... it's like a drug that I'm hooked on and now normal vocals just don't do it anymore. Also I really like Claro. I know there is debate on that one but I really like its simple workflow. I usually just skip to the masking/unmasking portion of it but I do use the first screen for the broad strokes stuff. It's like throwing paint on a canvas or just grabbing some salt and tossing it in the pot. Claro, to me, is great when I'm feeling "just need less high end", pull it down and move on. I trust it because the algo is based off of Oxford EQ which I also love.

Lennon loved the sound of his vocals doubled during the Beatles era, but he also grew to hate the time it took to record a proper double. That was the impetus for Abbey Road’s ADT, as I understand it. He seems to have been less bothered by it after hearing Phil Spector’s slap/reverb treatment on his voice. I get it though…I always feel like you need a really good room for a more “naked” single tracked vocal, whereas double tracking simultaneously adds its own sense of space and covers up/smears the deficiencies of a less than pristine vocal.

With Sonnox it’s a little different: the development costs were probably all recouped by the time Sony sold it to Paul, then Paul sold it. It would be hard to start developing new Sonnox without input from the original team, because they do have a reputation and if they just started putting out crap DAn would be all over them.

The other thing is that I work with a lot of live tracked stuff. When I double the vocal it also allows me to tune the vocal with Melodyne and the fact that the vocal is slightly detuned with it's spill from other tracks is totally lost in the Lennon-like haze.
