Surprised no mention of the new BeesNeez mics
they’ve released their BC12A fet and tube. Seems like even with all the mics on the market Ben has managed to provide something traditional but with a unique twist.

Really great pricing on these. Ben has so many interesting mic choices. I wish they were a little easier to test out though. Being on the other side of the world makes it a little more difficult.

Hi All. Tell your local shop you want them to stock us and then you’ll be able to try them out. We have the stock, we just need the dealers.
Cheers.

You may say Ben is a Dreamer, but he is not the only one! Seriously though Ben my friend I do agree it would be great but fortunately/ unfortunately direct holds down the price. So as a former gear pimp, you want to try Ben latest? Well buy one, the price is right!

How tight would you say the card fet polar pattern is?

I must admit that it’ll probably be my next mic purchase.

Hi ben. How tight would you say the card fet polar pattern is? Pretty tight as the rear of the capsule is not even a part of the circuit. It is there as part of the necessary tonal array but no electrical connectivity. Thanks Ben

I have but the one old cantankerous intermittent early 60s C12a and was hoping SOMEONE would someday tackel it, and you have! Are you using a Nuvistor or another type of miniature tube? Please tell us more. I am so deeply intrigued here. GIGGITY!

Hi Ward.
The original used the nuvistor in a cathode follower circuit. This was perhaps not the best design. The thought was good but the self noise wasn’t!!
We are using an amazing nos Raytheon tube. It has a very musical out put and the impedance can be varied (unlike the nuvistor). This means we don’t need to use a cathode follower but can unleash the beast with a plate follower (same as the original c12 design).
Tone overall is stunning. Mark Venezia (our usa dealer) feels it sounds like a finished print, so we are pretty happy with the initial reception.
Our ck12 capsules have become so refined over the years and truly make this a must have. Even I want one!!
The fet version is just as sweet (just cardioid).
No cheats, it uses the brass ring ck12 capsule that no one wants to make anymore. Why? Because it’s complicated. Why do we make and use it? Because we can!! Lol.
Hope this gives a bit of insight.
Cheers.
Ben

So what’s the real sound difference between the tube and FET versions?

So what’s the real sound difference between the tube and FET versions? Mainly just slew rate (transients) and texture (harmonic distortion from the tube). Other than that, they are quite twinny!

Ben - I have a question: Beesneez Tribute 5 C12 versus BC12. How much of a difference in sound? Your mic lineup is amazing!

Cheers. Ben Ben, this is the most excited I've been since the launch of the H251 project, and that includes my delight with the Lauten LS308s! Cleaning up the self-noise ticks all the boxes! That's fantastic. I can't wait to try one some day. Thank you so much for being a part of our community here.

Apologies for not introducing myself to the forum, my name is Gene, I'm an American recording engineer/producer who's been living and working in Austtralia for coming up on 18 years now. Thanks to Chris (chessparov) for inviting me to join this community. It's good to see so many familiar names and faces from both work and the GS site!
The new BeesNeez releases just seem to be coming in the droves lately, and that is just great news for everyone! As luck would have it, I found out about this new FET 12 version on the Soundeasy retail website. Fantastic pricing on what surely is another fantastic option from a locally built microphone. Great to see the more established Australian retailers featuring the BeesNeez products
