Apologies for not introducing myself to the forum, my name is Gene, I'm an American recording engineer/producer who's been living and working in Austtralia for coming up on 18 years now. Thanks to Chris (chessparov) for inviting me to join this community. It's good to see so many familiar names and faces from both work and the GS site! The new BeesNeez releases just seem to be coming in the droves lately, and that is just great news for everyone! As luck would have it, I found out about this new FET 12 version on the Soundeasy retail website. Fantastic pricing on what surely is another fantastic option from a locally built microphone. Great to see the more established Australian retailers featuring the BeesNeez products It’s nice to see that they are supporting us. We are looking forward to working with them. It’s a long road as a manufacturer when you don’t have VC backing. When a manufacturer springs onto the scene and seems to be instantly huge, sadly it isn’t due to amazing products (don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of amazing products out there) it is due to advertising budget and deliberate paid product placements. Our more organic approach has been much slower (more than 20 years now) however, it also means that our 50,000 plus mics out there are not part of the advertising budget. Rather than Advertising, we have invested in infrastructure and machinery. We are hopeful that in the coming years we will have a strong dealer presence which then gives us more time to make mics.

Ben - I have a question: Beesneez Tribute 5 C12 versus BC12. How much of a difference in sound? Your mic lineup is amazing! The T5 has a natural proximity due to the parabolic nature of the head grille. This means it can be used more like a musical instrument. It will vary in tone depending on the artist’s familiarity and skill with it. The BC12A having a flat grille is less inflicted by this phenomena making it a great choice for general recording tasks where the artist recorded instrument is less likely to use it as a performance instrument. even though both mics are similar in response, they are quite “real world different”

Your problems were many years ago and many things have changed since then. If you aren’t too stung, let us make it up to you. I will give you a one time 50% off voucher to get you back on board. Let’s talk, I’d love to get a mic into your hands minus the troubles that you have experienced previously. (I realise this could be opening a can of worms but I am curious) We always strive to help as fast as we can. Having a dealer network in place helps this dramatically as most items will repaired or replaced with a minimum of fuss. as I have previously stated, we have perhaps 10 disappointed customers over a 20 year production period. We don’t deny that it is sad to have a single disappointed customer however the numbers don’t lie! We do ok, actually, we do better tha. Ok. I look around the factory and see that I have 3 repairs to get out to customers. This is not too bad considering the number of customers we service each year. Our main issue (and this is why we are expanding to dealer networks) is we can simply not keep up with the communication with end users. In a day, we might receive 300 emails, many of which are questions and we simply don’t have the manpower to answer them all. It would take an addition 5 staff members to answer these emails (in Australia that would cost us half a million to staff). Our dealers will become the front man for these questions allowing us the time to make mics. I still feel at times we get a raw deal sometimes. We have no waiting list for mics, we take no deposits, we ship on time. Maybe our business model is wrong lol. we will keep trying though.

Yea, "overnight" success stories often have that preamble of years of hard work determination and commitment to a belief that few initially get behind.Congratulations on your most recent achievements in both business and in product building! Your new multi pattern 87 is of keen interest to me for an upcoming project I have traveling across parts of Australia recording community choirs/gang vocals for a song contributing to the regional Commonwealth Games events. I've decided against traveling remote regions with tube mics and have settled on an M-S configuration using FETS. Folks not familiar with Australian terrain may question this but I'm sure you understand completely! My 1 existing sticky was which mic I'd choose for my F8. Your new multi pattern 87 opens up the possibilities for the project and easily fits into the grant scheme allotment that I have to acquit. A huge part of it resourcing and using as much domestic products and services as possible. It is awesome to know an Australian made mic can also be used for this very Australian project. Knowing what the quality of sound is already makes it a bit of no brainer option for me to propose to the committee. Congratulations again Ben, we'll talk in the coming few weeks!gene

Also thank you for the very generous offer. Well, I was forthright with my criticism... and you have responded with a fair and generous offer... It would I feel be silly for me to pass up an opportunity like this. I will take you up on your offer, and after listening to a mutual friends usage of the mic on your website (Stefan Nowak) recording of Jolene...I would like to get the 67/269. It sounds incredible. I will PM you my details Peter

Cheers, Ross Thanks Ross. If it is humanly possible, we will always try to right a wrong. No one is perfect and things can go wrong but we don’t want it to end that way. Wiz’s new mk11 version of the B87/269 is ready to ship (I have made sure it sounds awesome!!!) I have also included 3 extra tubes, each with different date range so that he’ll never be without a quiet one. Thanks so much Wiz for letting us right this one. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

It's the sign of someone who is passionate about the products they design and manufacture. My next mics will be from BN.

Kudos to Ben, most manufacturers forget that if a screw up is on them they do owe the client something. This is one reason for the assigned sales rep thing at some dealers, your sales person either remembers or notes they need to make up / suck up.

Lateral but off topic, The new BeesNeez B87i is probably the most refined looking BeesNeez microphone to date based on the website images. It appears to be a more aesthetically balancing paint scheme that pairs really well with the form of the microphone itself. It also appears to be a very close 1:1 in size replication of the original German model. I [and several others i have spoken with] think this is really important, especially as a vocal microphone. The reduced size of the U89 body used for the BU87iC is definitely not without it's real world benefits and absolutely makes the microphone a more viable option for tight area use, but for vocals I definitely feel and think this new B87i reveals a whole new appeal factor for the microphone and brand. If I'm wrong about the size of the microphone, forgive me. The aesthetic re-work is still completely on the mark to me, and the new soft case is just a ripping beauty! I have the BU87iC and if the sound is even remotely similar, this aesthetic update will have a massive impact on new users looking for their first, or perhaps only vocal microphone, that are convinced by the sound but hesitant to buy based on the size and less appealing aesthetics of the cardioid only version of the mic. And to be honest, the update look of the multi pattern B87i does much to make more sense of the aesthetic appearance of the cardioid only pattern version. Very frugal and pragmatic move I'm really happy about these changes, it demonstrates a sophistication and brand maturation the other mics did not instill. Based on my BU87iC ownership, I can highly and easily recommend that modelfor it's sound and it has made buying the B87i a total no brainer for me. Have a great day all
* Mods please move my post to the more appropriate thread or I will repost when I figure out how to start a new thread with pics of the B87i!

I'm actually using omni-F8 for my M-S. So the C model will have to sit this one out but thanks for your suggestion! gm

Our main issue (and this is why we are expanding to dealer networks) is we can simply not keep up with the communication with end users. I'm sure the feedback about communication feels tedious, but we are all rooting for your success, and recognize you are a talented engineer. You can't know what to improve upon if people don't tell you- and it seems like now that you know, you are trying to make improvements. I would consider a project manager - even part time - to handle client relations and inbox management. They would also be responsible for capturing, categorizing, and creating prioritized tasks for you to make sure people feel seen, and know their issue is being addressed. That would allow you to focus on big picture and creative work, rather than the tedium of monitoring forums and email for unsatisfied customers. Between that role and the dealer network, I think a lot of the communication issues people have would disappear. For example - You and I started a message thread here on RGO March 16, almost 2 months ago now and it's gone silent as of April 17.

Our dealer network will over time be looking after all things BeesNeez. We will merely supply mics as we are really good at this. I have noticed that most companies as they become larger, prefer for the end user to have all contact through the dealer network ie; try messaging the ceo from Neuheisser, it is all but impossible and this allows him to spend his needed time running a company. This is also how we will eventually work things here. We have 11 staff members, this will also increase over time as we embark on employing some PR and CR employees. Our dealer network already have stock on hand and are waiting to hear from our customers. As for our communication , in all fairness, your reply was answered, not left hanging. I also have a phone that you are welcome to call. I do want to provide you with a mic to match your free power supply; I’m as of yet to decide which will be most interesting for you. (It’s the artistic side of me) Give me a call or send me an IMessage and I’ll call you. Talk soon.
